On June 4, 2022, Yuma was introduced as a participant in the HYBE Labels Japan's upcoming survival show &AUDITION - The Howling -.[2] In the final episode, which was aired on September 3, he was announced as one of the contestants who will be debuting in the winning group &TEAM.[3] They debuted on December 7, 2022 with the mini album First Howling : ME.
