Yubin (유빈) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and rapper under rrr Entertainment and Wild Entertainment Group. She is a former member of the girl group Wonder Girls.

She made her solo debut on June 5, 2018 with her first single "Dosiyeoja".

Career[]

Pre-debut[]

In 2007, Yubin was set to debut as a member of Five Girls, a five-member girl group under Good Entertainment. However, due to financial issues, the group was disbanded before they could debut. Other members of Five Girls included UEE, G.NA, Jun Hyo Seong, and Yang Ji Won.[1]

2007–2017: Wonder Girls[]

Following the departure of HyunA, Yubin was introduced as the newest member of Wonder Girls. She officially debuted as a member on September 7, 2007.[2]

In 2015, she appeared as a contestant on the survival show Unpretty Rapstar 2. She finished the show as a semi-finalist.[3]

On January 26, 2017, JYP Entertainment announced that Wonder Girls would be disbanding after Yeeun and Sunmi decided not to renew their contracts with the agency.[4]

The group's final single "Draw Me" was released on their tenth anniversary–February 10, 2017.

2018-2019: Solo debut with Dosiyeoja, "#TUSM", "Start of the End"[]

She made her solo debut on June 5, 2018 with her first digital single "Dosiyeoja".

She made a comeback on November 27, 2018 with "#TUSM".

She released her third digital single album, "Start of the End", on October 30, 2019.

2020: Departure from JYPE, new agency, "Yaya (Me Time)"[]

On January 28, JYP Entertainment announced that she and Hyerim had left the agency after their exclusive contracts expired on the 25th.[5]

On February 18, Yubin announced the creation of her one-woman agency, rrr Entertainment.[6]

"Yaya (Me Time)" was her first single following the establishment of her agency. It was released on May 21.

2021: "Perfume"[]

Yubin released the digital single "Perfume" on January 13.

On January 17, she appeared on King of Mask Singer as 'Snow Flower', where she sang Taemin's "Move". Sandara Park commented that Yubin "knows how to bring out the best of both rap and vocals".[7]

2022-present: Second World, new agency[]

On August 8, 2022, Yubin was revealed as a contestant on the JTBC all-female competition program Second World, which aims to break the prejudice that idol rappers lack singing abilities.[8] The show's first episode premiered on August 30.

On January 8, 2023, Yubin signed with Wild Entertainment Group to handle her Southeast Asian promotions.[9]

On May 22, 2023, rrr Entertainment confirmed that Yubin is currently dating tennis player Kwon Soon-woo.[10] On October 5, rrr Entertainment confirmed that the couple recently broke up.[11]
