Yoo Ara (유아라; also known simply as Ara) is a South Korean former singer and actress. She is a former member of the girl group HELLOVENUS.
Career[]
Pre-debut[]
Yoo Ara, along with future fellow HELLOVENUS member Yoonjo, were members of Pledis Entertainment's trainee group Pre-School Girls. The group was made up of female trainees who would potentially join After School.[1] However, neither girl would debut with the group.
2012–2014: HELLOVENUS[]
Yoo Ara debuted as a member of HELLOVENUS on May 9, 2012 with the group's first mini album Venus.
On July 31, 2014, it was announced that Pledis Entertainment and Fantagio Music, which had collaborating to manage HELLOVENUS, would be ending their merger. Yoo Ara, along with Yoonjo, would leave the group to rejoin Pledis Entertainment.[2]
2014: New agency[]
On December 2, 2014, it was revealed that Yoo Ara had signed on with Urban Works Entertainment to pursue activities as an actress, thus confirming her departure from Pledis Entertainment.[3]

On June 11, 2024, Yoo Ara revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and undergone an emergency surgery to remove a malignant tumor. Furthermore, she reassured fans that her health is improving and that she will be focusing on her recovery.[4]
