YoYo Girls (요요걸스) was a seven-member girl group and dance team under E&T Company. They debuted on December 10, 2013 with their first digital single "머리어깨발무릎발".

The group presumably disbanded in December 2014.

History[]

Pre-debut[]

In September 2013, the group's formation began under E&T Company with the former FREE STAR members, Irum, CEO, and Seulah, alongside new additions, Hyoseong, Sujin, and Eunchae. Later on, several members adopted new stage names: CEO became Livvi, Hyoseong became Daye, Sujin became Suin, and Eunchae became Jiyoung. In addition, Song-i, who was previously a "spare member", was officially added to the lineup.[1]

In late October 2013, the members of YoYo Girls were introduced one by one on their fancafe, which was rebranded from FREE STAR’s fancafe. The group started promotions by performing at various school events across Seoul.[2]

2013: Debut with "머리어깨발무릎발", Irum, Livvi and Jiyoung's departure[]

Although the group was initially set to debut in November 2013 with full-fledged activities, it wasn't until December 10 that their debut digital single "머리어깨발무릎발" was released.[3] Days after the song’s release, Irum, Livvi and Jiyoung were notably absent from their performances, leading to the assumption that they left the group.[4]

2014: Daye's departure, Yoonji's addition, comeback announcement, label change, Yoonji's departure, Hyejin's addition, PLAIN and disbandment[]

In early 2014, Daye left the group. Later in February, the group posted a video to their fancafe, featuring Seula, Song-i, Suin, and a new member, who was later revealed to be Yoonji on February 18. The group also announced their comeback in the same post.[5]

In March, it was presumed that YoYo Girls were transferred to FM Entertainment, as they were included in the agency's concert lineup.[6] However, Yoonji appeared to be missing, suggesting that she had left the group.

In December, the group reappeared as a trio with new member Hyejin. Weeks later, their fancafe was reorganized into a fancafe for PLAIN,[7] which included the three remaining members of YoYo Girls. With this, it was presumed that YoYo Girls had disbanded.

Aftermath[]

  • Hyejin, Seula and Song-i promoted as members of PLAIN until their disbandment in late 2015.
    • After PLAIN's disbandment, Song-I went on to join Mo.I in late 2015. She presumably left the group in 2016.
  • Livvi returned to FREE STAR in 2014 and joined their 2nd generation lineup, under her old stage name CEO.
  • Daye changed her stage name to Hyona and became a member of the 2nd generation of FREE STAR. She later joined New Top in 2015, before leaving the following year.
  • The circumstances of the remaining members are unknown.
