Yellow Bee (옐로비) was a five-member girl group under Addiction Entertainment. They debuted on November 23, 2017 with the single "Hiccup".

Their disbandment was officially confirmed on July 12, 2020.

History

2017–2018: Debut with "Hiccup" and first comeback with "If You Love Me"

Yellow Bee was the first group formed by the label Addiction Entertainment. They debuted on November 23, 2017, with their first digital single titled "Hiccup" the group's original line-up was composed of Berry, Boyeon, Rozy, Seona and Somee.

Yellow Bee made their first comeback on July 17, 2018, with the digital single "If You Love Me", the song tells a story of a shy girl experiencing the feeling of an unrequited love.[1]

2019: Line-up changes, "DVD"

On June 7, Addiction Entertainment made an announcement via their Instagram account that Yellow Bee would be changing all of the members. They disclosed that the former members had withdrawn their contracts with the company and that the group will have a completely new line-up ahead of their upcoming comeback in late June.[2]

The new members was introduced starting with Ryuhee on June 9. Yellow Bee then made their comeback on June 27 with the single "DVD (Difference Versus Difference)".[3]

2020: Disbandment

On May 25, Addiction Entertainment notified fans that Yellow Bee would go on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that their upcoming single, originally scheduled for June would be postponed. On July 12, Addiction Entertainment released a statement on their Instagram revealing that Yellow Bee had officially disbanded. Addiction Entertainment further stated, "But with member B carrying on her rather slutty lifestyle, plus the other members being unable to come to an agreement, we’ve decided that the group cannot stay together." The statement was highly controversial and criticized on several news outlets for 'slut shaming'.[4] Addiction Entertainment later edited the Instagram post to remove certain information and was left at "personal issues and differences between the company and members" as a reason.[5] Despite this, Addiction Entertainment later deleted all posts from their Instagram.

A week after their disbandment, former member Ari took to her own Instagram account on July 31 and revealed that the members were subject to neglect, exploitation, sexual harassment and sexual assault by the company staff.[6][7][8]
