Yechan (예찬) is a South Korean singer and lyricist. She is a former member of the girl group PinkFantasy, its sub-unit MDD, and the girl group Awe5ome Baby.
She is known for winning the 2025 ENA survival show Undercover.
Career[]
2014–2016: Superstar K6, Awe5ome Baby[]
On September 19, 2014, Yechan was shown as a contestant during the fifth episode of the Mnet survival show Superstar K6. Her name was called when teams were being formed for the second mission of Super Week. It confirmed that she passed the first round and passed the individual mission in the first part of Super Week, but both of her performances did not air.
On September 26, in the sixth episode, she was briefly shown performing "In Dreams" by Lena Park during a recap of the first round. For the second part of Super Week, during the collaboration mission, she performed "Be OK" by U Sung Eun as part of a team with Lee Ga Eun and Choi Ji Hyun. She was eliminated after her team was defeated in a battle against Lee Hae Na, Kim So Ri, and Choi Yeon Jeong.[1][2]
On November 15, she was introduced as the main vocalist of the girl group Awe5ome Baby.[3]
On June 11, 2015, she released the digital single "Someone I Know" as an OST for the web drama with the same title.[4]
On June 19, Awe5ome Baby debuted with the release of their first and only digital single, "Why Should I?".
On December 4, 2016, it was announced that Awe5ome Baby disbanded.[5]
2018–2019: PinkFantasy, MDD[]
Yechan debuted as the main vocalist of PinkFantasy on October 24, 2018, with the group's first digital single "Iriwa".
On December 19, 2019, she debuted as a member of the group's second sub-unit, MDD, with the digital single "Not Beautiful".
2023: "Hanamizuki", Sing Again 3, graduation from PinkFantasy[]
On September 5, 2023, she released a cover of "Hanamizuki" by Yo Hitoto as her first Japanese digital single.
On October 10, she was identified as the contestant SingAgain3 Singer No.3 (싱어게인3 3호 가수) on the JTBC survival show Sing Again 3.[6]
On November 2, she passed the first round with all eight votes from the judges after performing "Harmony" by JeA & Lee Young Hyun in the second episode.[7]
On November 8, MyDoll Entertainment announced that Yechan, along with Harin, had graduated from PinkFantasy.[8]
On November 23, during the second round of Sing Again 3, she performed "A Beautiful Farewell" by Kim Gun Mo in the fifth episode with Ashatree.[9] They were eliminated after they lost with three votes from the judges in a battle against Kang Sung & Kim Gil Joong who received five votes.[10][11]
2024: Solo concerts, departure from MyDoll Entertainment[]
On December 5, 2023, it was announced that she would hold a solo concert, Yechan Solo Live Part.1, on January 13, 2024.[12]
On March 11, MyDoll Entertainment shared that Yechan's contract with them had concluded after 6 years.[13]
On October 28, she announced that she would have solo concerts at Live House Only You in Tokyo, Japan on November 27, 28, and 29.[14]
2025: Undercover, King of Mask Singer[]
On January 8, 2025, she was shown as a contestant in a preview for the first episode of the ENA survival show Undercover.[15]
On January 19, she passed the first round after performing "The Lonely Bloom Stands Alone" by HYNN in the second episode.[16]
On January 26, she passed the second round after performing "Amnesia" by Gummy in the third episode with ssbokman, Amin, and Choi Hee Jae.[17]
On February 16, she passed the third round after performing "Painted by the Moonlight" by Miyeon in the sixth episode in a battle against Lee Seung Min and Jung Nam Do.[18]
On March 2, during the fourth round, she performed "Love Love Love" by Kim Hyun Sik in the eighth episode with Alice U.[19] She passed the round after receiving a Cover Card pass from the judges.[20]
On March 9, during the first part of the final round, she performed "The Reason I Became a Singer" by Shin Yong Jae in the ninth episode in a battle against Jung Nam Do.[21]
On March 16, in the 10th and final episode, it was revealed that she passed the first part of the final round. In the second part, she performed a new song called "Let It Shine". She also contributed to the song's lyrics.[22] At the end of the episode, she was announced as the final winner of the show and received its grand prize of ₩100,000,000.[23]
On March 19, her song "Let It Shine" was released on streaming services.
On April 27, she started competing as the masked singer Golden Lady (골든 레이디) on the MBC singing competition program King of Mask Singer in the 492nd episode. She passed the first round after performing "Clean Up" by THERAY and winning in a battle against Kim Jae Hyun of N.Flying.[24]
On May 4, in the 493rd episode, she passed the second round after performing "Forest" by Choi Yuree and winning in a battle against former VROMANCE member Park Jang Hyun.[25] During the third round, she performed "First Line" by Shin Yong Jae in a battle against former Sinawe member Kim Bada.[26] She won and became the challenger in the final round of the episode against Jung Joonil who was the masked king Perfume Over Flowers. He was competing to become the third contestant to ever achieve nine consecutive wins on the show, and he performed "I" by Taeyeon.[27][28] When the final voting results were revealed, she was defeated by Jung Joonil, and she was unmasked at the end of the episode.[29]
