On June 29, 2021, it was announced that Taeyeon would be making a comeback with a new single titled "Weekend" on July 6.[2]
"Weekend" is described as a disco pop song that combines upbeat guitar and retro synth sounds. Lyrically, it talks about the desire to get away from the repetitive daily life for a while and do whatever you want on the weekend.[2]

"Weekend" reached 100 million streams on Circle Chart, making it platinum.[3]
