We1ne (위원), formerly known as W.A.O (위아더원), was a five-member boy group. Originally as seven, they debuted on April 22, 2021 with their first digital single "On the Fire".

They disbanded on December 24, 2023.

History[]

2021: "On the Fire", Rio's departure, Dizzy[]

In late August 2021, KINGTOP Entertainment issued a statement where they announced that Rio had left on August 27, due to health issues.

2023: New member, Peak Time, termination of contract, new group name, disbandment[]

On February 14, 2023, they revealed a new member, Heemin.[1]

On February 15, 2023, it was confirmed that W.A.O will partake in JTBC's Peak Time. Their silhouette was revealed through a performance of "Overdose" by EXO.[2] Unfortunately, they did not pass the first round.

On June 2, 2023, they announced that they have terminated their contract with KINGTOP Entertainment due to to contract failure.

On June 7, 2023, they announced that they will be continuing on independently as We1ne with five members.[3]

On December 18, 2023, during a concert in Japan, they announced that they will end their activities as a group on December 24, after their 2 last concerts with Takara Osaka.

  • Fillip and Hyeongseok were previously members of ASTIN.
  • W.A.O were chosen as the public ambassadors for the Yongshin city branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and Guseong Nonghyup in March of 2021.[4]
