WEi (위아이) is a six-member boy group under OUI Entertainment.[4] They debuted on October 5, 2020 with their first mini album Identity : First Sight.
History
Pre-debut
On August 31, 2017, the team of trainee tentatively named OUIBOYS made a pre-debut song called Hug Me performed by Youha, Sihun, Kangwoo, 1BELL, and Yoon Myung.[5][6]
On June 17, 2020, OUI Entertainment announced they will be officially launching their new boy group, tentatively named OUIBOYS, to debut in the second half of the year.[7]
On July 10, their new and official name, WEi, was announced along with the four members' names (Jang Dae Hyeon, Kim Dong Han, Kim Yo Han, and Kang Seok Hwa).[8]
On August 12, 2020, OUI confirmed that Yoo Yong Ha and Kim Jun Seo, who were previously in the project group 1THE9, would be joining the group.[9]
2020: Debut with Identity : First Sight
A trailer for their debut mini album, Identity : First Sight, was released on September 11, confirming their debut date to be on October 5.[10]
2021: Identity : Challenge, Identity : Action
A first teaser photo for their second mini album, Identity : Challenge, was released on February 6, confirming their comeback date to be on February 24.[11]
A comeback teaser trailer was released on the midnight of May 24 for their third mini album, Identity : Action, to be released on June 9.[12]
2022: Love Pt.1 : First Love
On February 28, 2022, a teaser was revealed for their fourth mini album, Love Pt.1 : First Love, scheduled for release on March 16.[13] The mini album was then released on March 16, with the title track "Too Bad".
On March 20, 2022, WEi revealed the design of their official light stick.[14]
On March 21, the group announced their first concert 2022 WEi Concert [First Love], which occurred on April 16 and 17 at the KBS Arena in Seoul, South Korea.[15]
