Vocal Showdown (초대형 노래방 서바이벌 VS), literal title Mega Karaoke Survival VS, was a reality survival show produced by Mnet and aired on both Mnet and tvN. It premiered on October 20, 2023 and broadcasted every Friday at 10:40 p.m. KST.

Background and concept[]

In July 2023, Mnet began open recruitments for male participants of a future music survival, held in July, and aiming to garner a diverse range of talented applicants from all ages who excelling in various genres such as rock, dance, trot, ballads, and more. In August 2023, fully announced the survival show featuring 10 celebrity producers who are well-established singers who will form five teams of two. The celebrity producers were revealed as 2PM's Wooyoung and BTOB's Seo Eunkwang, Soyou and Onestar, Giriboy and Car, the garden, Roy Kim and Parc Jae Jung, and MeloMance's Kim Min Seok and DAY6's Young K. The survival show will aim to be a stage where contestants can showcase their singing abilities and compete against each other through karaoke to win a grand prize of 100 million won (approximately $76,150).[1][2][3][4]

A second season featuring all-female participants will later be produced as a sequel.

  • The subtitle VS was adopted as the English title and extended to mean Vocal Showdown, however, in news releases VS is also intended to mean versus and vocals.[2][3][4]
