V (뷔) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, producer and actor under BigHit Music. He is a member of the boy group BTS.
He made his solo debut on September 8, 2023 with his first mini album Layover.
Career[]
2013: Debut with BTS[]
He debuted as a member of BTS on June 13, 2013 with the group's first single album "2 Cool 4 Skool".
2016: Acting debut, "It's Definitely You"[]
On February 29, BigHit announced that V would be making his acting debut in the KBS2 drama Hwarang.[1] As part of the drama's soundtrack, he released "It's Definitely You" with Jin.
2019-2021: "Scenery", "Winter Bear", "Sweet Night", "Snow Flower", "Christmas Tree"[]
In 2019, V released two singles: "Scenery" and "Winter Bear", on January 30 and August 9, respectively.
V recorded the track "Sweet Night" for the South Korean drama Itaewon Class in 2020. In December of the same year, he released "Snow Flower", featuring Peakboy.
On December 24, 2021, V released "Christmas Tree" as part of the soundtrack of Our Beloved Summer.
2023: "Love Me Again", "Rainy Days", solo debut with Layover, "Slow Dancing (Remixes)", "Wherever U R"[]
On July 20, Sports Chosun reported that V will be making his solo debut during the third quarter of 2023. Later in the day, BigHit responded to the reports and stated that the schedule will be revealed when decided.[2]
On August 8, BigHit announced that V will be releasing his first mini album, Layover, on September 8.[3] "Love Me Again" and "Rainy Days" were pre-released on August 11.
On October 22, BigHit announced that V will be releasing the remix single "Slow Dancing (Remixes)" the next day.[4]
On December 30, American singer-songwriter Umi released a single featuring V titled "Wherever U R".[5]
2024: "Fri(end)s", "Winter Ahead", "White Christmas"[]
On March 4, 2024, BigHit announced that V would be releasing the digital single "Fri(end)s" on March 15.[6]
On November 22, BigHit announced that V will be releasing the digital single "Winter Ahead" on November 29.[7]
On November 7, it was announced that V will be releasing a new version of the 1942 song of the same name by Bing Crosby, "White Christmas", on December 6.[8]

Military service[]
On November 22, 2023, BigHit announced that V started his military enlistment process and further updates will later be shared.[9] On December 5, BigHit Music announced that V is about to start their military service, without providing an exact date due to safety reasons.[10] He eventually enlisted on December 11.[11][12] He will be discharged on June 10, 2025.[citation needed]

- He used to play the saxophone since his dad said that a singer should at least play one instrument.
