This is gonna be me ranking all Ateez title tracks (as of Fever pt. 1 era) I guess all of these wouldn't be considered title tracks? Idk they all have MVs so I'm gonna call it a title track :D
Please note that I am not including performance videos like ones for Aroura and Promise and Utopia :S
For those of you (and probably only one reading this :') who don't know all of Ateez's ~title tracks~, he's a list in chronological order of all their MVs: Pirate King/Treasure (Treasure Ep 1: All to Zero), Say My Name/Hala Hala (Treasure Ep 2: Zero to One), Wave/Illusion (Treasure Ep 3: One to All), Wonderland (Treasure Ep Fin: All to Action), Answer (Treasure Epilogue: Action to answer), and finally Inception (Zero: Fever pt 1)
1- Treasure ~ I know many people like Pirate King better than Treasure but for me it's the exact opposite. Everything about Treasure is amazing. The styling (THE BLACK AND WHITE OUTFITS ARE EVERYTHING OMG) to the MV to the music, everything is on point. I love the relaxing and refreshing beat in the beginning when Hongjoong belsses us with his heavenly vocals and Mingi's soft little rap in the beginning. I love the black and white outfits and Seonghwa's fit is arguably the best. Mingi's hair will forever be iconic hehe. Dare I say Mingi carried this MV? Anyways great song 100/10
2- Hala Hala ~ Again, I know people prefer Say My Name over Hala Hala but like??????? Bro?????????? The MV is so basic and it's just dancing in a warehouse (possibly the same warehouse from the diary film?) but like the choreography is so gooooooooooood!! I love the end when San starts convulsing a lot and everything about the stages is amazing. I love the all black outfits and they reminded me of thieves at firts idk that's just me. Hongjoong's rap is amazing and that one thing Yeosang did in the stages shall never be forgotten (X_X) Anyways great song 100/10
3- Wonderland ~ I don't know if you can tell but I LOVE dark concepts. I find them a lot better than cutesy songs which creep me out so ofc Wonderland is gonna be in my top 3. I love the MV and the army general inspired black outfits. Tbh I prefer ver. z more than ver. a but that's just me idk about you. The trumpets are so powerful and they stand out in this song a lot. The theories are absolutely stunning like the MV. The choreography is beautiful and I love the stages. I didn't know how much the world needed black side-swept hair Seonghwa. Also, have you noticed that the boots Hongjoong was wearing are the same as the boots the man in white was wearing at the end of Answer? Anyways great song 100/10
4- Say My Name ~ I love all the trumpets in the song. I play flute and despise trumpets but in some cases they're exceptions. The MV is filled with so many theories and I saw this one scene in which the editing was off (you can see part of Yeosang's hand when San is looking in the mirror and sees Halateez) but we don't talk about that. The music is so good and the trumpets are overpowering in the chorus but that's fine. I'm a sucker for the car dance (we missed 82 minutes of that ugh) and it's so......i c o n i c. SMN/Hala Hala era will always be one of my favorite eras hands down. Anyways great song 100/10
5- Inception ~ I couldn't not include this in my top 5. Seonghwa OWNED this era and you know why. the highnote, the.............~chorus~, the styling, everything about this comeback was perfect. I love how melodramatic this song is but if you think of it in a deeper way and connect it to the diary film when they're all breaking apart, they might be talking about how they're all kinda sad and frustrated about their group breaking up. So yeah the beat of the song is everything and yeahhhhhhh. Anyways great song 100/10
6-Illusion ~ Again, I've noticed that people like Wave better than Illusion and I could see why. I really like Illusion's vibe I guess and how the song is less.......mature? Idk how to explain it, the MV and song are more carefree unlike Wave. At first when I listened to it I liked Wave better by..a lot, but now I prefer Illusion because a) the beat is good b) the chorus is nice and fun and lastly because c) it's a very carefree song that you can listen to while chilling. Ofc Wave is a little more..idk how to explain it but it's more mature than Illusion? Yeah anyways the ending is arguabely the best part of this because of all the theorie. Anywaus great song 100/10.
7- Answer ~ So I wasn't gonna put Answer as no. 7 but a little higher until I noticed how much I like the other songs <_< I love the beat to this and the beginning is so good omg. Mingi's rap is a little more lively than his rap in Inception because in Answer he says "say oh" but in Inception it's "nobody says oh" which is lowkey depressing but it's fine bro ;w; I love how aesthetically pleasing the MV is and that it has a certain color it revolves around, which I guess it would be beige or sandy kinda colors. The chorus is really good and the choreography for the chorus and also very lively. Anyways great song 100/10
'8- 'Wave ~ Sadly this is second to last :< The song is amazing don't get me wrong, the beat is beautiful and it's really refreshing in a way, but I don't go "oh, I wanna listen to Wave" that often. But like, being honest, this song is everything. Mingi's lines are so iconic and everything about them are amazing. The "hakuna matataya" is forever iconic and no one can change our minds. The MV is kinda dull compared to Illusion but it's still really good. Anyways great song 100/10.
9- Pirate King ~ I feel kinda bad putting this in last place but I find it kinda underwhelming compared to the other MVs. I', not complaing tho because it's their debut mv/performance video. I love the choreography to Pirate King so much, after the first chorus when Hongjoong starts rapping and Yeosang does the spin-drop-pump-pump-side-pump-pump thing is so cool. I tried doing it lmao and I failed (as expected) The end is probably what I like the best for this song because I like the chanting kinda thing. That's when you know you joined a cult instead of a fandom. The choreography for the end is also so iconic during San's part. The visuals of this MV are stunning but I prefer Treasu're more. Anyways great song 100/10.
