Universe is the fourth winter special album by EXO. First planned for a release on December 21, 2017, it was postponed after the passing of labelmate Jonghyun. The album was released on December 26 with "Universe" serving as the album's title track.

Member Lay did not participate in this album's recording and promotion due to conflicts with his promotional schedules in China.
