UNIS (KR: 유니스; JP: ユニス) (stylized as U&iS) is an eight-member project girl group under F&F Entertainment. Formed through the SBS reality show Universe Ticket, they made their debut on March 27, 2024 with the mini album We UNIS.

They will be active for two and a half years on a special contract before it ends sometime in September 2026.

Their name stands for "U & I Story."

History[]

Pre-debut: Universe Ticket[]

In January 2023, it was announced that SBS would air their first survival show, Universe Ticket with a group contract of 2 and a half years under F&F Entertainment, a new entertainment company which was established in November 2022.[2]

On March 2, SBS opened the audition form to the public for any girl born before the year 2011 with a dream to debut as a K-pop idol regardless of their nationality.[3] The audition period lasted from March 2 until May 14th, with individual applicants being notified about their audition results by June 10. [4]

On July 4, it was announced that the show would officially air sometime in November. [5] The contestants were revealed on July 13 and July 17 through profile teaser images and an official pre-voting took place from July 19th to August 9.[6]

On January 10, Elisia was confirmed as the first member following her advancement to P rank in the ninth episode.[7] In the final episode, broadcast on January 17, the remaining seven members were announced to be: Bang Yunha, Nana, Gehlee Dangca, Lim Seowon, Jin Hyeonju, Oh Yoona and Kotoko.[8]

2024: Debut with We UNIS, "Curious"[]

On January 18, 2024, it was reported that UNIS would be debuting sometime in March.[9] On February 29, F&F Entertainment confirmed that UNIS would be making their debut on March 27.[10] On March 7, the group released a promotion scheduler for their debut mini album We UNIS.[11]

On July 12, it was announced that the group would make their first-ever comeback with their first single album "Curious" on August 6.[12]

2025: Swicy, first music show win[]

On March 6, 2025, F&F Entertainment announced that UNIS would be releasing a new album in April.[13] On March 31, the group released a promotion schedule for their second mini album, Swicy, set for release on April 15.[14]

On April 23, the group received their first ever music show win on Show Champion for "Swicy".[15].

  • Seowon is a soloist.
    • She was also a contestant on Miss Trot 2 and Music Love.
  • UNIS is the first K-Pop group with a Filipino line which consists of members Elisia, Gehlee and half Korean-half Filipino Hyeonju.[20]
