U-Min (유민) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and YouTuber under HUX Entertainment. She made her official debut on April 8, 2021 with her first mini album Nineteen.[2]

She is also known for being a contestant on CAP-TEEN and Kookmin Singer and for being a temporary guest member of the girl group Busters.

On January 25, 2024, She stated on a live that she gave up on her idol life after a fan asked.[3]


Career[]

2020: YouTube beginnings and CAP-TEEN[]

Prior to working as a YouTuber, U-Min was known as a frequent dancer associated with 1MILLIOn Dance Studio. In early 2020, U-Min signed under HUX Entertainment and opened a YouTube channel, titled 'U-Min TV' where she uploads songs and dances covers, mukbangs and beauty videos. There, she shared her plans to debut as a singer in 2021 with her agency.[citation needed]

On September 21, 2020, U-Min was announced as an upcoming contestant in the 2020 teen reality competition show CAP-TEEN.[4] She did not pass the first performance evaluation and thus was eliminated.[5]

2021: Debut with Nineteen, Kookmin Singer[]

On March 11, 2021, HUX Entertainment announced that U-Min would be making her official debut as a solo artist on April 8 with the mini album, Nineteen.[2] On April 8, the mini album Nineteen was released along with the music video for "You&I", which starred singer Hwang Chi Yeul.

A few months later in October 2021, U-Min became a contestant on her second competitive survival show, Kookmin Singer. She was eventually eliminated but finished within the 'Top 111' ranks (ranks after 40 for individuals were not assigned).[citation needed]

2022: "Real Love", Busters[]

On May 15, 2022, U-Min released her first comeback with the digital single, "Real Love". The release of "Real Love" also marked her first release as the primary composer and lyricist of her own music.[6][7][8]

In early December 2022, it was discovered that U-Min joined Busters as a guest member for their BUSTERS IN TOKYO event to replace member Yunji who could not participate in the event due to personal circumstances.[9][10][11][12][13][14] She was active for approximately four months for group activities but by early May, U-Min departed from Busters and was replaced by Nami.[15]

Family[]

U-Min is the daughter of retired actress Yum Jungyeon. Her aunt, Yum Jungah, remains a famous actress to this day and is married to actor Heo Il.[16][1]

U-Min is a graduate of Apgujeong High School in Gangnam, Seoul.[17] She is currently a student in the Department of Applied Music at Hanyang Women's University.
