toni rei, also known by his birth name Nam Do Hyon (남도현) or simply Dohyon (도현), is an independent South Korean rapper-songwriter. He is a former member of the boy group BAE173, the project group X1 and the duo H&D. He is also a former member of the pre-debut group MBK BOYS.

He made his solo debut on September 6, 2024 with the digital single "19".

Career[]

2018: Under Nineteen[]

In 2018, Nam Dohyon participated in MBC's survival show Under Nineteen as a member of the rap group. He was eliminated in episode 9 after achieving 12th place in the rap team and 42nd place overall.[1]

2019–2020: Produce X 101, X1, MBK BOYS, H&D[]

In 2019, he participated in Mnet's boy group survival show Produce X 101 representing MBK Entertainment. On May 10, during the survival show, he was revealed as a member of the pre-debut group MBK BOYS.[2] Then he finished in eighth place, thus becaming a member of X1.[3] The group officially debuted on August 27, 2019 with the mini album, 비상 : Quantum Leap.

However, on January 6, 2020, the agencies representing the members announced the group has disbanded due to not being able to reach a unanimous agreement following the Produce 101 vote manipulation controversy.[4]

On January 8, 2020, MBK BOYS' official Twitter account was renamed to POCKETDOLZ, effectively disbanding the group.[5]

He, along with fellow labelmate and X1 member Hangyul, debuted as the duo H&D on April 21, 2020. They disbanded following the release of the special album Umbrella on September 23, 2020.

2020–2023: BAE173, hiatus, lawsuit against PocketDol Studio[]

On September 4, 2020, PocketDol Studio revealed Dohyon as the first member of their upcoming boy group POCKETDOLZ who are set to debut in 2020.[6] On September 25, it was revealed that the group's name will be BAE173. The group officially debuted on November 19, 2020 with their first mini album Intersection : Spark.

On October 8, 2022, PocketDol Studio announced that Dohyon would be taking a break from all activities (both group and individual) to focus on health recuperation after being affected with COVID-19.[7]

On April 28, 2023, an exclusive report by News1 revealed that Dohyon had filed an injunction against PocketDol Studio to suspend his exclusive contract due to differing views with the agency regarding how they fulfilled their obligations of the contract.[8]

On June 23, 2023, Dohyon announced that he has won his lawsuit to suspend his exclusive contract with PocketDol Studio, which also revealed his departure from BAE173.[9]

2024: Solo debut with "19"[]

On September 3, 2024, Dohyon announced that he would be making his solo debut on September 6 with the digital single "19" under the stage name toni rei.[10]
