The Debut: Dream Academy is a survival show created by HYBE and Geffen Records. It premiered on September 1, 2023 on YouTube.
The show followed the creation of the global girl group KATSEYE.
Background[]
HYBE and Geffen Records established a joint venture in 2021. On August 25, 2023, HYBE teased The Debut: Dream Academy, an audition show that takes place in the United States and attracted 120,000 applicants around the world over the past two years. The show aims to globalized the K-pop production system.[1] On August 26, additional teaser photos and video were released announcing that a global girl group will be created through the show. They pared down the 120,000 applicants to 20 contestants.[2]

In the first mission entitled "Showcase", units of 5 contestants were formed, divided into two dance teams and two vocal teams to showcase their performances. After the first round of voting closes two contestants will be eliminated.

Mission 2: Team Mission[]
In the second mission entitled "Team", units were formed, divided into two teams performing "Fearless" by LE SSERAFIM and two teams performing "Antifragile" by LE SSERAFIM. Viewers will vote for their two favorites contestants from each song, the average of the individual scores will be the overall team score, where higher team score will receive immunity from elimination. Four contestants will be eliminated.

In the third mission entitled "Artistry", units were formed, divided into three teams performing "Confident" by Demi Lovato, "Buttons" by The Pussycat Dolls and "Wannabe" by Spice Girls. Viewers will vote for their four favorites contestants, the top two will be guaranteed a spot in the live finale. Three contestants will be eliminated.

Other contestants
- On March 18, 2024, Nayoung was revealed as a contestant on the JTBC survival show Girls On Fire. She placed 1st in the final episode, making her a member of the show's final lineup.
- Brooklyn debuted as a soloist with the digital single "Selfish" on March 29, 2024.[5]
- Adéla debuted as a soloist with the digital single "Homewrecked" on September 13, 2024.[6]
- Mei joined iNKODE and debuted on October 16, 2024 as a member of SAY MY NAME.[7][8]
