THE BOYZ (더보이즈) is an 11-member boy group under IST Entertainment. Originally with 12 members, they debuted on December 6, 2017 with the mini album The First.
Prior to their debut, the group released a pre-debut special MV titled "I'm Your Boy" on October 11, 2017.
History
2017: "I'm Your Boy" and debut with The First
On October 11, 2017, they released the pre-debut special MV titled "I'm Your Boy".
On December 6, THE BOYZ debuted with their first mini album The First. The mini album included the previously released song "I'm Your Boy".
2018: The Start, "Keeper", "The Sphere", and The Only
On March 28, 2018, Cre.ker announced that Hwall would not be participating in the group's second mini album as he was diagnosed with a posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. He was then told that he would need three months of recovery after getting surgery.[1]
On April 3, THE BOYZ then had their first comeback with the release of their second mini album The Start. The mini album was promoted as 11 members.
On July 12, they released the special single "Keeper".
On September 5, they came back with their first single album "The Sphere".
On November 29, THE BOYZ released their third mini album The Only.
2019: "Bloom Bloom", Dreamlike, Hwall's departure, Japanese debut, and "White"
On April 29, 2019, THE BOYZ came back with their second single album "Bloom Bloom".
On July 20, it was announced that Hwall would be going on a hiatus due to health reasons.[2]
On August 29, the group released their fourth mini album Dreamlike, which was promoted as 11 members as Hwall was on a hiatus.
On October 23, Cre.ker revealed that Hwall would be leaving the group due to issues with his health.[3]
On November 6, THE BOYZ made their Japanese debut with the release of their first Japanese mini album Tattoo. It is also the first release since Hwall's departure.
On December 6, they released the second special single "White", which is a remake of the Fin.K.L song of the same title.
2020: Reveal, Road to Kingdom, Chase, and "Christmassy!"
On February 10, 2020, THE BOYZ had their first comeback of the year with the release of their first studio album Reveal.
On March 20, it was confirmed that THE BOYZ would be one of the seven groups participating in the Mnet reality show Road to Kingdom.[4]
On June 12, they then released the song "Checkmate" as a part of the digital EP Road to Kingdom Final for the final comeback competition. During the final episode, which was aired on June 18, it was announced that THE BOYZ had won the show, making them able to compete in the Mnet show Kingdom: Legendary War.
On September 21, they released their fifth mini album Chase.
On December 7, they released their third special single "Christmassy!", which was first performed for their online fan-con “The Film Festival” on December 5.[5]
2021: Breaking Dawn, Kingdom, "Drink It", Thrill-ing, "Maverick", and "Candles"
On March 17, 2021, THE BOYZ had their first Japanese comeback with the release of their first Japanese studio album Breaking Dawn.
On July 11, they released their first digital single "Drink It", which was the eighth release of the UNIVERSE Music project.
On August 9, they released their sixth mini album Thrill-ing.
On November 1, they came back with their third single album "Maverick".
On December 6, they released with their fourth special single "Candles" as part of their special ‘The Azit: Field Day’ promotions to celebrate their fourth anniversary.[6]
2022: Eric's hiatus, She's The Boss, "Sweet"
On March 2, 2022, THE BOYZ participated in the OST for the Webtoon Solo Leveling with the release of the song "Echo".
On March 4, it was announced by IST Entertainment that Eric would be going on a hiatus to focus on recovering due to health issues. As a result, the group will be promoting as 10 members until his return.[7]
On March 30, THE BOYZ announced their world tour THE BOYZ World Tour: The B-Zone.[8]
On May 27, THE BOYZ released their second Japanese mini album She's The Boss.
On June 17, they will release their second digital single "Sweet", which was the 21st release of the UNIVERSE Music project.
