Not to be confused with TOP GIRL.

T.O.P Girls (티오피걸스) was a cancelled girl group under StarCom Entertainment and GMCK.[1]

History[]

Pre-debut and subunit I&M debut[]

On November 24 2018, Ccun Music Academy announced auditions for StarCom Entertainment for the scheduled debut of a five-member girl group set to debut in September 2019.[2] However, due to several factors, auditions were held until 2020.[3]

On May 15, 2020, StarCom Entertainment revealed that they will debut a five-member girl group named T.O.P Girls and revealed the first two members: Minji and Ian.[4][5] On March 21, 2020, Minji and Ian formed a subunit named I&M and together they released a digital single, titled "The Sun Is Dazzling" published under T.O.P Girls' name.[6] On December 14, the third member Miso was revealed.[7] In a late December statement, it was reported that the girl group is preparing their second subunit along with a second music release.[8]

Sometime in the beginning of 2021, StarCom Entertainment deleted all images of member Miso and removed her pinned story from their Instagram, indicating that she had left the group.

The group was speculated to have disbanded due to inactivity in the first half of 2021, however in a news article released on May 26, 2021, it was reported that the group is still together. Additionally, their agency has signed overseas contracts to expand the girl group into China and Thailand with the second subunit release scheduled for July 2021.[1] Despite the release of these news, no second unit release ever occurred in July. However, it was discovered in July that StarCom Entertainment had opened auditions yet again for the third time to recruit new members.[9][10]

Sometime in later 2021, member Ian was discovered to have left the debut lineup. However, through their Naver Cafe, it can be found that yet-unannounced member Yejin had been added to the group. By late 2021, Yejin was removed from their Naver Cafe, indicating that she too had also left.

Following this no updates were given of the girl group throughout 2022 and their Naver Cafe became inactive, thus it is assumed that the girl group's debut had been cancelled sometime in late 2021 or in 2022.
