Swing Girls (스윙걸즈) was a three-member girl group under Gaon Entertainment and Starwin. Originally as five, they debuted on August 19, 2011 with their first digital single "Runx3".

The group presumably disbanded in 2021 due to inactivity.

Their group name is a combination of the letter "S" from "S-line", and the word "wings", expressing their desire to become the wings of the K-pop industry.[1]

History[]

2011: Debut with "Runx3" and hiatus[]

On August 19, 2011, Swing Girls, then consisting of Jenny, Baha, Eunyul, Seonin and Aran, made their debut under Jang Entertainment with the release of their first digital single "Runx3". Their debut garnered attention for the "beautiful D-cup women" concept and Aran's previous beauty pageant career.[1]

Shortly after their debut, the group became inactive.

2012–2013: Entry into China's music scene[]

In June 2012, Swing Girls returned with a new lineup, consisting of original member Jenny and two new members, Jihee and Lina. Reformed as a three-member girl group, they announced their entry into the Chinese music industry and signed with with a Chinese brokerage company for music promotions.[2] The following month, it was reported that they would release a Chinese version of their debut single would be released.[3]

Between 2012 and 2013, the group promoted as rotating three-member units, featuring various combinations of Aran, Jenny, Baha, Eunyul, Serin, Jihee and Lina.[4][5]

2014–2016: New lineup, Chinese debut with Starry Sky Sparkling, "Dear I Do", "Promise You" and Swing Girls[]

By 2014, all of the members had left the group and an entirely new lineup was introduced, consisting of Riwon, Lee An and Sori.

On July 21, they released their first Chinese EP Starry Sky Sparkling. The EP included the title track of the same name and re-recorded versions of their previously unreleased songs, "Popsicle" and "One By One", which is also a remake of JQT's song of the same name.

On January 7, 2015, they released their second Chinese single, "Dear I Do", in celebration of Valentine's Day.

In February 2016, they were invited to the United States to participate in the Asian Star Carnival and announced their entry into the U.S. market soon.[6]

On May 10, they made their comeback with the digital single "Promise You". This was followed by the release of their second EP Swing Girls on October 22, which consisted of their previously released songs.[7]

2017-2021: Hiatus, Sori's departure, reorganization, re-release of "Promise You" and disbandment[]

Between 2017 and 2019, Swing Girls remained largely inactive with the members mainly focused on individual activities, presumably due to the THAAD political conflict.

In November 2019, it was reported that Sori had left the group due to family reasons and the agency intended to reorganize the group, with the possibility of former member Jihee returning.[8] On January 9, 2020, Swing Girls performed at YiYongTang's New Year concert as three.[9][n 1]

On August 18, 2021, their 2016 single "Promise You" was re-released in Korea. Shortly after this, the group presumably disbanded silently.
