"Super Shy" is the second digital single by NewJeans. It was released on July 7, 2023, as a pre-release single for the group's second EP Get Up.[1]
Commercial performance[]
On July 10, 2023 at 8am, "Super Shy" got its first real-time all kill.[2]
"Super Shy" debuted at #59 on the United Kingdom Official Singles chart making it the group's first song to chart in the top 60.[3] It spent nine consecutive weeks on the chart,[4] and peaked at #52.[5]
On July 16 at 11:00am, "Super Shy" received it's first perfect all kill. It's the fourth song this year to do so.[6]
"Super Shy" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Global 200 chart, Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, and the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. The song also debuted at #45 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart and at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[7] It peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #64 the following week[8] and spent seven weeks on the chart.[9] "New Jeans" debuted at #5 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, #32 on the Billboard Global 200 chart, and #19 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.[7]
On December 1, American magazine Rolling Stone ranked "Super Shy" #6 on their 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023' list.[10]
"Super Shy" was ranked #2 on NME's "The 50 Best Songs of 2023" list.[11]
On July 6, 2024, the Recording Industry Association of Japan awarded "Super Shy" a platinum certification.[12]
