Steady is the first mini album by NCT WISH. It was released on September 24, 2024 with "Steady" serving as the album's title track.
"Dunk Shot" and "3 Minutes" were pre-released on September 9 and 16, 2024, respectively.
The physical album comes in four versions: I ♥ WISH, Finding Psyche, WICHU's Memory (Keyring) and QR.
Background[]
On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that NCT WISH will be releasing a mini album in the third quarter of the year.[1] On August 27, it was reported that the group will pre-release a song in early September before coming back with an album later in the month. SM Entertainment later confirmed that NCT WISH is currently preparing for a comeback aiming for September.[2] On September 2, NCT WISH announced that they will be releasing their first mini album Steady on September 24.[3]
Composition[]
"Steady" is described as a dance song with a harmonious combination of house, UK garage, and Jersey Club beats and modern melodies. The lyrics express Gen Z's pure feelings wishing for their miraculous meeting to last forever.[4]
"3 Minutes" is has a cheerful synth riff that lightly twists hyper pop and a sound that is both rough and sophisticated. It contains a fresh and honest confession that you don't need 3 minutes to confess your feelings, fitting for the song's actual length of less than 3 minutes.[5]
"On & On" is an alternative R&B dance song that creates a fantastic atmosphere with a laid-back groove. The beat-filled track sound express the growing feelings toward the other person and the desire to continue writing their own story.[6]
"Supercute" is described as a pop song with contrast between a sparkling loop sound reminiscent of a carnival and strong drums, combined with fresh vocals. The lyrics describe the exciting relationship between two people and let you feel the lively charm of NCT WISH.[6]
"Skate" is an alternative pop song with a cheerful snare, catchy guitar riff, and cool acoustic performance that provide refreshing energy like skating. It tells the wish to enjoy youth and freedom in the city and to treasure that moment.[6]
Commercial performance[]
On September 24, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that as September 23, Steady recorded over 800,000 stock pre-orders.[7]
According to Hanteo Chart, Steady sold 792,347 copies on its first week of release, breaking the group's previous first-week sales record.[8]
