Sophia (소피아) is a Filipina-American singer under HYBE and Geffen Records. She is the leader of the girl group KATSEYE.
She is also known for participating in the survival show The Debut: Dream Academy.

2023: The Debut: Dream Academy[]
On August 20, 2023, Sophia was introduced as a contestant of The Debut: Dream Academy.[5] During the show's finale, she ranked first in 62 countries[6] and in overall votes thus making her a part of the debut line up.
On November 18, Sophia was revealed to be a member of the debut group KATSEYE.[7]

Family[]
Sophia was born in Queens, New York, but she grew up in Manila, Philippines. She comes from a famed artistic family in the Philippines: Sophia's mother is a stage actress and singer Carla Guevara-Laforteza, while her father, Basilio Godfrey Laforteza III is a former dancer and currently an executive chef in Manila.[1][2][2]
She has a brother named Luke Gregory, who is one year older than her. She also has a younger brother named Oreo, who is approximately eight years younger.
Education[]
In 2021, Sophia graduated high school with highest honors at the Multiple Intelligence International School, an institution in the Philippines that focuses on a non-traditional education system.[8] Since childhood, she has been in tune with the world of music and arts and she has been singing since she was 3 years old. When she was 5 years old, she took classes in ballet, jazz, musical theatre, hip hop and tap dancing.[citation needed]
