Sooyoung (수영) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress under SARAM Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group Girls' Generation and a former member of the Japanese-Korean duo routeφ.


She made her solo debut in December 20, 2018 with the digital single "Winter Breath".

Career

2002–2003: routeφ

Sooyoung originally debuted as a member of the Japanese-Korean duo routeφ on April 26, 2002 with their first single "Start". The duo was short-lived, however, disbanding sometime in 2003.[1]

2007–2017: Girls' Generation

She debuted as a member of Girls' Generation on August 5, 2007 with the group's first single "Into the New World".

Sooyoung made her acting debut in November 2007 through the KBS2 sitcom Unstoppable Marriage.

On October 9, 2017, SM Entertainment announced that Sooyoung, alongside Tiffany and Seohyun, had decided not to renew their contracts with the agency.[2]

2017–present: New agency, solo debut

On November 10, 2017, Echo Global Group announced that Sooyoung had signed on with the agency.[3]

Sooyoung made her solo debut on December 20, 2018 with her first digital single "Winter Breath".

On May 7, 2019, Saram Entertainment announced that Sooyoung had signed on with the agency.[4]

Personal Life

Relationship

On January 2, 2014, local news outlet Sports Seoul reported that Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung-ho had been dating since September 2012. Later that day, the reports were confirmed by both agencies.[5]
