Son Ho Young (손호영) is a South Korean-American singer, rapper and musical actor under Beat Interactive. He is a member of the boy group god and its sub-unit HoooW.
He made his solo debut on September 13, 2006 with the studio album Yes. He uses the stage name SHY since 2021.
Early life[]
Son Ho Young lived alone with his father following the divorce of his parents. He dropped out in his second year of high school, tried to run away from home, and eventually left for two years and debuted in the meantime. The two ended up making up.[2]

2011: U-Turn[]
On October 28, 2011, Son Ho Young announced that he will release his first mini album in early November.[3] U-Turn, was released on November 10.
2014: Cancelled release[]
On August 4, 2014, MMO Entertainment announced that Son Ho Young is planning on releasing a new album in late September.[4] However, it never materialized.

On December 23, 2011, it was reported that Son Ho Young has been dating actress Yoo In-na for approximately a year. However, Yoo In-na's agency YG Entertainment denied the rumors.[5]
On The Chair Korea in 2012, Son Ho Young confessed that he dated a girl group member during his god's days.[6]
On Come To Play in 2012, he confessed that he had been in a relationship with a woman living in America. However, they broke up after he was caught cheating on her.[7]
On May 22, 2013, Son Ho Young's non-celebrity girlfriend was found dead in his car due to apparent suicide.[8] Media outlets later reported that a suicide note was found by the police and Son Ho Young attented her funeral.[9] The preliminary results of her autopsy concluded to a death by suicide.[10] On May 24, 2013, Son Ho Young attempted suicide using the same method as his deceased girlfriend.[11] On May 29, it was announced that he got better but is still under suicide watch.[12] He was eventually released from the hospital on June 1.[13] He stayed at home with his family for an extended period of time.[14] Meanwhile on July 19, the West Seoul District Prosecutors' Office dropped his charge of setting a car on fire during his suicide attempt since it was his first offense and only his own car was damaged by mistake.[15]
On September 1, 2014, it was reported that Son Ho Young is currently dating rookie singer Ami. CJ E&M denied the claim.[16] Despite new photos of an alleged date between the two individuals, Son Ho Young's representatives reaffirmed that they were not dating.[17]
On May 6, 2015, it was reported that he is currently dating announcer Hwang Bo-mi. However, his agency stated that the couple has already broken up.[18]
Drugs allegations[]
On July 11, 2014, Son Ho Young was announced to be under investigation for unauthorized use of Zolpidem. According to prosecutors, he took multiple pills prescribed to a family member as part of his suicide attempt in May 2013, following the suicide of his girlfriend. Son Ho Young's representatives stated that, although he did took Zolpidem after the 2013 incidents, he was since then tested that he had not taken it.[19]
