Show Queen (쇼퀸), also known by its full title The Stage of Dreams - Show Queen (꿈꾸던 무대 당신이 - 쇼퀸), is a singing reality survival show that was broadcast on TV Chosun. It premiered on June 18, 2023 and concluded on August 7, 2023.
The winner of the show received a prize of ₩100,000,000 and the opportunity to debut as a singer.[1]
Background[]
On February 17, 2023, it was announced through a news release that TV Chosun would be broadcasting a new singing reality survival show titled Show Queen sometime in June 2023 with singer Jang Minho and television personality Jang Sung Kyu as the MCs.[2][3]
Later on May 3, the show's judges were announced to be Jang Hoon Hee, Kim Jong Jin (SSAW), Pak Sun Zoo, The One, Hwang Chi Yeul, Lee Hae Ri and Jo Kwon. Bada was also announced as a judge, but she withdrew before filming started.[4][5]
On June 9, it was announced that Show Queen would air its first episode on June 18, 2023.[6] That same day, all contestants were revealed via a series of introduction videos on the show's official website and YouTube channel.[7][8]
Concept[]
Show Queen's central concept was: "auditions for women, by women, for women". Female singers between the ages of 10 and 54 who had not officially debuted were eligible to apply.[2][4]

Episodes 1–2: 1R generation representative selection (June 18, 2023 – June 25, 2023)[]
In the first round, the 60 contestants performed one song each. During every performance, the seven judges could press their Queen button if they wanted the contestant to advance to the next round. Contestants who received 6 or 7 presses passed the round instantly. Contestants who received 0 to 3 presses were eliminated instantly.
Contestants who received 4 or 5 presses were placed on hold until all the contestants finished performing. Then, the judges gave additional passes to some of the contestants on hold, and the others were eliminated.
A total of 15 contestants were eliminated during the first round, and 45 advanced to the second round.

Episodes 3–4: 2R team medley match (July 2, 2023 – July 9, 2023)[]
In the second round, the top 45 contestants were split into nine teams in three matches. Each match was between a team with generation X contestants, a team with generation Y contestants, and a team with generation Z contestants.
Each team performed a medley of four songs, and then the seven judges gave them a total score out of 700. The team with the highest score in each match won. All the members of the teams that won passed the round instantly.
After all the matches were finished, the judges gave additional passes to some of the contestants in the teams that lost their match, and the others were eliminated.
A total of 15 contestants were eliminated during the second round, and 30 advanced to the third round.

Episodes 5–6: 3R 1:1 death match (July 16, 2023 – July 24, 2023)[]
In the third round, the top 30 contestants were split into 15 one-on-one matches where the opponents sang a duet together. After each duet, the seven judges gave each of the two contestants a separate score out of 700. The contestant with the higher score passed the round instantly.
After all the matches were finished, the judges gave one additional pass to a contestant who lost their match. The other contestants who lost were eliminated.
A total of 14 contestants were eliminated during the third round, and 16 advanced to the fourth round which was the semi-final round.

In the fourth and semi-final round, the top 16 contestants performed one song each. Then, the seven judges gave them a total score out of 700, and 300 people in the live audience gave them a total score out of 300.
The seven contestants with the highest combined total scores out of 1000 advanced to the fifth and final round. The other nine contestants were eliminated.

Returning contestants Kim Joo Eun, Seo Arim, Jung Cho Ha, and Ju Ha Yun participated in a special performance of "It's Art" by PSY during the episode.[18] There was also an unaired performance of Dosi Brother's song "By the Moonlight" by Jeong Da Hee, Choi U Seon, Kim So Yeon, and Kim Yeon Mi that was later released on YouTube.[19]
