Shin Jimin (신지민; or simply Jimin), is a South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter. She is a former member of the girl group AOA and its sub-unit AOA Black. She was also a member of the sub-unit Jimin N J.Don.

She made her solo debut on March 3, 2016 with the digital single "Call You Bae".

Career[]

2012–2013: Debut with AOA, AOA Black[]

She made her debut as a member of AOA with the release of the first single album "Angels' Story" on July 30, 2012.

On July 26, 2013, she debuted as a member of the sub-unit AOA Black with the single album "Moya".

2016–2018: Solo debut, "Hallelujah", and "Hey"[]

On March 3, 2016, Jimin made her solo debut with the digital single "Call You Bae" as the first part of her #OOTD solo project.

On October 26, 2017, she released her second digital single, "Hallelujah".

On January 19, 2018, she released her third digital single, "Hey".

2020: Departure from AOA[]

On July 4, 2020, FNC Entertainment announced Jimin would be leaving AOA and halting all activities in the entertainment industry following bullying allegations made by former member Mina.[1]

2022: Return, departure from FNC Entertainment, new agency[]

On January 8, 2022 coinciding her birthday, Jimin surprised her fans by posting on Instagram for the first time since leaving the group and shared a new song, "Suddenly", which was rumored that she would be returning to the entertainment industry after two years.[2]

On January 13, FNC Entertainment announced her departure from the agency following the expiration of her contract.[3]

On July 14, it was announced that Jimin had signed an exclusive contract with ALOMALO Entertainment, thus confirming her official return to the entertainment industry.[4]

2023: Boxes, "Twinkle Little Star"[]

On February 8, 2023 it was announced that Jimin would be releasing her first EP, Boxes, on the February 22.[5]

On December 7, she announed the digital single "Twinkle Little Star", set to be released on December 11.[6]
