On June 4, 2023, Sports Chosun reported that Jung Kook will be making his solo debut on July 14. Hours later, Big Hit responded to the reports and stated that an announcement will be made soon.[1] On June 30, it was announced that Jung Kook will be making his solo debut on July 14 with his first digital single "Seven".[2]

Jung Kook performed "Seven" for the first time at the Good Morning America Summer Concert on July 14.[3]
Jung Kook will be performing "Seven" in South Korea for the first time on Inkigayo on July 30.[4]
Music video[]
On July 1, it was reported by Osen that actress Han So Hee would be starring in the music video for "Seven". Later in the day, BigHit responded to the reports and stated that it's hard to confirm.[5]
The music video for "Seven" reached 100 million views on July 25.[6]
Commercial performance[]
As of July 15, "Seven" reached #1 in 106 different countries on the iTunes Top Songs chart. The song also charted in the Melon Top 100 chart and the realtime chart for both Genie and Bugs.[7]
In its first 24 hours of release, the music video for "Seven" got 35,489,720 views and 5.4 million likes.[8]
"Seven" reached 15,995,378 filtered streams on Spotify in its first day of release which makes Jung Kook the first male artist and second overall to reach 15 million in its first day. The song also debuted at #1 on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart which also makes Jung Kook the first Kpop soloist to do so. On the Oricon daily digital singles chart, "Seven" debuted at #1.[9] "Seven" has spent five consecutive weeks on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart which makes Jung Kook the first Korean artist to do so.[10] On October 14, it surpassed 900 million streams, making it the fastest song to achieve the feat in the history of the platform.[11] On October 30, "Seven" surpassed 1 billion streams 108 days after his release, becoming the fastest song in Spotify history to reach the milestone.[12]
"Seven" debuted at #3 on the United Kingdom Official Singles chart, #1 on the United Kingdom Official Singles Sales chart, and #5 on the United Kingdom Official Streaming chart.[13] It has spent three consecutive weeks in the top 30 on the Official Singles chart,[14] and ten consecutive weeks in the top 40.[15]
"Seven" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Billboard Global 200 chart and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. In total, it received 6.4 million radio airplay impressions, 21.9 million streams, and 153k downloads/CD singles.[16] It spent two weeks in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart,[17] and 13 consecutive weeks on the chart in total.[18] The song has also spent seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.[19] Additionally, "Seven" was listed as #1 on the Billboard's 2023 Global Song of the Summer.[20]
On November 6, the Recording Industry Association of America announced that "Seven" was awarded a platinum certification for selling over 1 million units.[21]
On November 17, the British Phonographic Industry awarded "Seven" a BRIT silver certification.[22]
On November 29, Spotify revealed that "Seven" reached #4 on their top 10 most-streamed songs list in 2023.[23]
On December 1, American magazine Rolling Stone ranked "Seven" #99 on their 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023' list.[24]
On April 1, 2024, the French National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing announced that "Seven" was certified "gold single" for surpassing 15 million equivalent streams in the France.[25]
