Satbyeol (샛별; formerly romanized as Saetbyeol) is a South Korean singer, rapper and actress under Roots Entertainment. She is a former member of the girl groups GsA and PIXY.
She made her solo debut on October 13, 2024 with the digital single "Don't Know Why".
Career[]
2017–2020: GsA, acting debut, MIXNINE[]
Saetbyeol debuted as a member of GsA on May 25, 2017 with the group's first digital single "Dreamgirls".
In October, she became a contestant on the survival show MIXNINE. She was eliminated in episode 7 after ranking 161st place.[1]
On November 8, 2018, the first episode of "When You Love Yourself" was released. Saetbyeol’s debuted in acting as she played Gong Soo-rin, the main role of the web drama.[2][3]
On July 5, 2019, the second season of "When You Love Yourself" aired on vLive where Saetbyeol reprised her role.[4]
On April 23, 2020, it was announced that she had left GsA following the termination of her contract with Roots Entertainment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]
2020–2022: PIXY[]
On July 3, 2020, she revealed via Instagram that she had joined PIXY under ALLART Entertainment.[6] The group debuted on February 24, 2021 with the digital single "With My Wings".
On August 27, 2022, ALLART Entertainment announced that Satbyeol, alongside Ella, would be leaving the group due to poor physical health conditions and that their exclusive contracts had automatically been terminated.[7]
2024: Return to Roots Entertainment, solo debut with "Don't Know Why"[]
On October 2, 2024, it was announced that Satbyeol had returned to her previous agency, Roots Entertainment. She signed an exclusive contract as a solo artist and actress.[8]
On October 10, it was revealed that Satbyeol would make her solo debut on October 13 with the digital single "Don't Know Why".[9]
