Sana (Korean: 사나; Japanese: サナ) is a Japanese singer under JYP Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group TWICE.
2015: SIXTEEN, TWICE
On May 5, 2015, she became a contestant on JYP's newest survival show, SIXTEEN. She finished the survival in 6th place, hence becoming a member of the girl group TWICE. They officially debuted on October 20, 2015 with their first mini album, The Story Begins.
In 2019, she had a scandal over mentioning the transition between the Heisei and Reiwa era in Japan on an Instagram post, many people twisted her words and made it seem as if she being insensitive to the Korean netizens that suffered in the hands of Japan. She received a lot of backlash but eventually, gained a lot of support from Once.
In Gallup Korea's annual music poll which interviews 1,500 people between the ages 13-29, she was voted the 17th most popular idol in 2018, which is a tie with her fellow member Jeongyeon and the highest ranked Japanese idol in the history of the poll.
She was nominated for "The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2020".
