Sana (Korean: 사나; Japanese: サナ) is a Japanese singer and lyricist under JYP Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group TWICE and its sub-unit MISAMO.
Career[]
Pre-debut[]
Sana trained with a Japanese entertainment company, EXPG, in 2009. After being scouted while shopping at a mall, she joined JYP Entertainment in 2012. Sana was scheduled to debut in a group called 6Mix, but plans for the debut of the group was cancelled. In 2014, Sana appeared in Got7's music video for "A".
2015: SIXTEEN, debut with TWICE[]
On May 5, 2015, she became a contestant on JYP's newest survival show, SIXTEEN. She finished the survival in 6th place, hence becoming a member of the girl group TWICE.[2] The group officially debuted on October 20, 2015 with their first mini album The Story Begins.
2021: "Sotsugyou"[]
Sana became the first member of Twice to release a solo single following the release of her cover of Kobukuro's 2020 single "Sotsugyou" on February 21.
2023: MISAMO[]
JYP Entertainment announced on February 9, 2023, that Sana, Mina, and Momo will debut as MISAMO, Twice's Japanese subunit. MISAMO released their debut EP, Masterpiece, on July 26.

On March 29, 2021, it was announced that Sana and Dahyun were selected as the exclusive models for A’pieu.[5] On March 31, 2022, WAKEMAKE revealed that they have selected Sana as their new muse.[6] On March 6, 2023, Espoir announced Sana as the new muse for their brand.[7] On March 13, 2023, Missha revealed Sana as their new muse.[8] Her contract was announced to be extended on April 1, 2024.[9] On July 6, 2023, Sana was revealed as Graff's first Japan ambassador.[10] On September 7, 2023, Prada announced that they have selected Sana as the brand's newest ambassador.[11]

- In 2019, she had a scandal over mentioning the transition between the Heisei and Reiwa era in Japan on an Instagram post, many people twisted her words and made it seem as if she being insensitive to the Korean netizens that suffered in the hands of Japan. She received a lot of backlash but eventually, gained a lot of support from Once.[18]
- In Gallup Korea's annual music poll which interviews 1,500 people between the ages 13–29, she was voted the 17th most popular idol in 2018, which is a tie with her fellow member Jeongyeon and the highest ranked Japanese idol in the history of the poll.[19]
- She was nominated for "The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2020".[20]
- Her MBTI personality is ENFP-T (Campaigner).[21]
- Although she, Momo and Mina hail from the same region of Japan (the Kansai region) and speak the same dialect (the Kansai dialect or Kansai-ben), she is the Japanese member with the strongest accent among the three Japanese members of the group (mainly because she hails from Osaka, and people who are natives of Osaka have the strongest accent among all the natives of the Kansai region).[23]
- She is well known for being quite clumsy (she is considered the most clumsy member of TWICE and one of the clumsiest idols in the K-pop industry). Among the many things her clumsiness has caused: she slipped out of her seat during a baseball game, bumped her right leg into a chair during a fan meeting, put her left foot on the floor during a game where that foot couldn't pull over (and losing the game before the game even starts) during one of the episodes of SIXTEEN (the survival reality show responsible for creating TWICE), hit Mina with an umbrella during a snowy day and bumped Tzuyu with her back unintentionally during one of the performances of "Precious Love", among others.[24]
