STATION (also known as SM STATION) is a digital music channel project by SM Entertainment.
History[]
The project was announced on January 27, 2016 during the "SMTOWN: New Culture Technology" conference. SM's CEO, Lee Soo Man, explained the project would see a release of a new digital single every week for a year to showcase their own artists while also collaborating with artists outside the label as well.[1][2]
Seasons[]
The first season began on February 3, 2016 and ended on February 3, 2017. A compilation album, S.M. STATION Season 1, was released on April 6, 2017 and consists of all 52 songs from season 1 as well as five bonus tracks.
The second season began on March 31, 2017 and ended on April 6, 2018.
A 6-part spin-off project titled STATION X 0 began on August 10, 2018 and was a collaboration with SKT's culture brand '0'.[3]
The third season began on November 29, 2018 with bi-weekly releases instead of weekly that the two previous seasons used. The season ended on July 18, 2019.
A new season titled STATION X began on November 20, 2019. The first project of the season, "STATION X 4 LOVEs for Winter (2019 SMTOWN Winter)", will include four singles that deals with the themes "Love" and "Winter".[4][5]
On July 27, 2020, SM announced a special project titled Our Beloved BoA which consists of various artists covering BoA's hit songs in celebration of her 20th anniversary since debut.[6]
