SM Classics (SM 클래식스) is a South Korean classical record label under SM Entertainment. It was established in 2020 through a MOU signed by SM and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

History[]

2020–present: Founding, first projects[]

On June 10, 2020, SM Entertainment announced that they had signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for expansion and development of cultural content through collaboration between the K-Pop and K-Classical genres. Their first project is to release a newly-arranged, orchestra version of an SM-released song in July through SM STATION. In the future, a classical sub-label called "SM Classic" will be established to showcase a variety of content convergence that extends to the classical genre.[1]

On July 17, 2020, "Red Flavor (Orchestra Ver.)" was released as their first collaboration.[2] followed by End of a Day (Orchestra Ver.)" on July 24,[3] "Feel My Rhythm (Orchestra Ver.)" on July 1, 2022,[4] "Black Mamba (Orchestra Ver.)" on September 30,[5] "Into the New World (Orchestra Ver.)" on March 31, 2023,[6] "Growl (Orchestra Ver.)" on October 16,[7] "Psycho (Orchestra Ver.)" on March 29, 2024,[8] and "Boom Boom Bass (Orchestra Ver.)" on September 13.[9]

On May 29, 2024, SM Classics announced that pianist Yohan Kim will be making his debut under the agency.[10]

On August 23, 2024, SM Classics announced that the SM Jazz Trio will be debuting on August 30.[11]
