Ryu Sujeong (류수정; or simply Sujeong) is a South Korean singer-songwriter under her own independent agency House of Dreams. She is the lead vocalist of the girl group Lovelyz and a former member of the project girl group Girls Next Door.
She made her solo debut on May 20, 2020 with the mini album Tiger Eyes.
Career[]
2014: Debut with Lovelyz[]
She debuted as a member of Lovelyz on November 12, 2014 with the group's first album Girls' Invasion.
2020: Solo debut[]
She made her solo debut on May 20, 2020 with her first mini album Tiger Eyes.
2021-2022: Departure from Woollim, label changes[]
On November 16, 2021, Lovelyz went on indefinite hiatus after the members' contracts expired. She decided to not renew her contract with Woollim.[1]
On November 23, it was revealed that Sujeong was in talks to sign an exclusive contract with Kakao subsidiary, FLEX M, as she was positively discussing about signing a contract with them.[2] However, there were no updates or follow-up news on whether she had signed on with the agency. She also did not appear on their SNS and website. In the end, she ultimately failed to sign with them.
On September 1, 2022, it was announced that Sujeong has established her own one-woman agency House of Dreams, where she would be actively promoting as a solo artist among various fields.[3]
2023: Archive of Emotions[]
On March 21, 2023, a teaser photo was posted which revealed that Ryu Sujeong will be releasing her first full length album, Archive of Emotions, on April 20.[4] The next day, it was announced that a pre-release single for the album, "Love or Hate", will be released on March 30.[5]
2024: 2ROX, "Walking on Clouds", "Orange Juice", "White Dress", "T-Shirt"[]
On November 23, 2023, it was revealed that she would be collaborating with American singer XYLØ for her upcoming album 2ROX.[6] On December 20, she announced that her second mini album will be released on January 24, 2024.[7] On December 28, it was announced that a pre-release single for the album, "Fallen Angel", will be released on January 10, 2024.[8]
On February 29, it was announced that Ryu Sujeong would be releasing a digital single titled "Walking on Clouds" on March 6.[9]
On May 13, the first teaser for Ryu Sujeongs' upcoming release titled "Orange Juice" was released.[10] The single would feature a then unknown artist, later revealed to be Yein.[11]
On August 7, House of Dreams posted a Coming Soon photo for Ryu Sujeong's upcoming digital single.[12] On August 13, the first teaser for Ryu Sujeongs' upcoming release titled "White Dress" was unveiled, set to be released on August 22.[13]
On October 8, House of Dreams announced the first Japanese digital single "T-Shirt" which will be released later that day.[14]
