Ruan (Korean: 루안; Japanese: ルアン; formerly known as RUANN) is a Japanese singer-songwriter under Sony Music Associated Records. She is a former member of the Japanese girl group MOONCHILD.
She debuted with her first single "Love & Hope" on September 10, 2018. In Korea, she debuted on July 31, 2019, with the digital single "Beep Beep".
She is is best known for participating in the girls division of the Japanese audition show iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~.
History[]
2017: Solo debut[]
She released her first EP Spice 13 Acoustic EP on June 14, 2017 before making her major label debut under Toy's Factory with the single "Love & Hope" on September 10, 2018.
2019: "Beep Beep", departure from Bside[]
She then debuted in Korea on July 31, 2019 with the single "Beep Beep".[1]
On December 4, 2019, her label Bside announced that due to RUANN's intention, all future plans regarding "Beep Beep" promotions and the release of a new song in both Korea and Japan were cancelled.[2] Afterwards, RUANN started producing and releasing music independently.
On April 24, 2020, she announced having trouble releasing new music in Japan and Korea under the name "RUANN" due to trademark issues, leading to the release cancellation of her upcoming album.[3]
2021–2024: iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~, MOONCHILD[]
In late 2021, after a long hiatus, she was revealed as a contestant on the Japanese audition show iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ held by the agency LDH JAPAN. There, she is competing in the girls division for a spot in a girl group produced by Tosaka Hiroomi and co-produced by HYBE Labels Japan.[4] She finished in third place, thus becoming a member of iCON Z Girl Group (later known as MOONCHILD).
On April 24, 2024, it was announced that MOONCHILD had disbanded.[5]
