Rosé (로제) is a South Korean-New Zealander singer-songwriter under The Black Label and Atlantic Records. She is the main vocalist of the girl group BLACKPINK.

She made her solo debut on March 12, 2021 with her first single album, "-R-".

Career[]

Pre-debut[]

Rosé participated in an audition for YG Entertainment in Sydney, Australia, in 2012. After passing, she moved to South Korea to train, and in the same year, she featured on G-Dragon's "Without You".[citation needed]

2016: Debut with BLACKPINK[]

She was revealed as the fourth and final member of BLACKPINK on June 22, 2016.[1] The group made their debut on August 8 with their first digital single album "Square One".

2018–2020: Solo activities[]

In October 2018, YG Entertainment announced that all BLACKPINK members would get the chance to make a solo debut, starting with Jennie, and then Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo. However, only Jennie debuted that time and there was no updates on this statement.

On May 31, 2020, the agency made another announcement regarding their activities. It was announced that Rosé's solo debut is planned to be in September after the release of BLACKPINK's first studio album, with multiple songs in an album format.[2]

On December 30, 2020, it was revealed that filming for Rosé's solo debut music video would happen in mid-January 2021.[3]

2021: Solo debut with -R-[]

On January 25, 2021, YG Entertainment officially confirmed that Rosé would premiere her solo song at BLACKPINK: The Show with its first performance.[4] At the concert, she performed "Gone", a song that YG Entertainment described as a "sub-title track". A teaser video for the song was also released at the concert and later online.[5]

On February 10, it was revealed Rosé would make her official solo debut sometime in March.[6] On the midnight of March 2, teaser posters were released and confirmed the date to be March 12.[7] Her debut solo single album, -R-, was released on March 12 with "On The Ground" as the title track.

2023: Departure from YG Entertainment[]

YG Entertainment announced on December 5, 2023, that the members of BLACKPINK had renewed their contracts for group activities but individual contracts were still under negotiation.[8] On December 29, YG announced that Rosé and her fellow members have agreed not to continue under YG Entertainment for their future solo endeavors.[9]

2024: “Final Love Song”, signing with The Black Label and Atlantic Records, Rosie[]

On March 28, it was revealed that Rosé would sing “Final Love Song,” the signal song for I-LAND 2, to be released on April 4.[10]

On June 17, The Black Label confirmed that they are currently discussing signing an exclusive contract with Rosé. The next day, it was announced that Rosé is now under the label for her solo activities.[11]

On September 27, Rosé announced that she had signed with Atlantic Records to manage her activities in the United States.[12]

On October 2, The Black Label announced that Rosé will be releasing her first full-length album Rosie, on December 6.[13]
