(Tsa mina mina Girls~ 안녕하세요, 퀸비즈입니다!)

—Queen B'Z

Queen B'Z (퀸비즈), formerly known as P.O.P Con (팝콘), was a five-member girl group under JS Entertainment. They made their debut as P.O.P Con on October 16, 2012 with the digital single "Nol Ja Go" and re-debuted as Queen B'Z on July 29, 2013 with the digital single "Bad".

The group presumably disbanded in 2017.

History[]

2012: Debut as P.O.P Con with "Nol Ja Go", hiatus[]

On October 16, 2012, the group officially debuted as P.O.P Con in China with their first digital single, "Nol Ja Go".[1] Their lineup consisted of Choi Meari, Gu Seuli, Mimi, L.Rody and Lee Rumi.

Despite being a Korean group, the group was barely active in South Korea, conducting only a single unbroadcasted showcase.[2] After wrapping up their promotions, the group went silent without any official announcement.

2013: Re-debut as Queen B'Z with "Bad", "Sweet Memories"[]

Ten months after their debut as P.O.P Con, the group re-debuted as Queen B'Z on July 29, 2013 with the digital single "Bad".[3] For the group's re-debut, Mimi changed her stage name to Juha, while L.Rody adopted the stage name Nora-Born.

On December 5, in an attempt to gain popularity after the poor public reception of their debut single, the group partnered with their company's CEO, Byun Jin Sub, for the collaborative single album "Sweet Memories" and re-recorded his signature songs.[4]

2014: "Hope Workshop", "Smile Brightly"[]

After 1 year and 3 months, on November 18, 2014, the group made their comeback with the digital single "Hope Workshop".

Three days later, on the 21th, they released the special single "Smile Brightly", planned by the National Health Insurance to spread smoking cessation culture among teenagers.[5]

2015-2017: Individual activities, cancelled comeback, disbandment[]

From 2015 to 2017, the group mainly promoted at small events and occasionally released OSTs for dramas.[6] The members also promoted individually, notably Nora-Born making her debut as a soloist with the digital single "Gae-I-Deuk" in December 2015, Gu Seuli going viral after her appearance on I Can See Your Voice 3 in September 2016 and her starring in the web-drama Nallari Series along with fellow member Lee Rumi.[7][8][9]

In October 2016, it was reported that the group would release their third single in November.[9] However, the release was presumably cancelled.

Since late 2017, the group became inactive and was assumed to have disbanded quietly.

2024: "Another Story"[]

On March 23, 2024, seven years after the group's disbandment, L.Rody, Juha, and Rumi reunited to release a digital single titled "Another Story", intended as a tribute to the group and their fans.[10]

Aftermath[]

  • Choi Maeri appears to have left the entertainment industry altogether and has since focused on her personal life.
  • Gu Seuli debuted as a soloist on May 31, 2019, with the digital single "French Toast".
  • Shortly after the group's disbandment, Juha began working as a pilates instructor and later founded her own startup.[11] On August 8, 2024, she made her debut as a trot soloist with the single album "Beautiful Moment".[11]
  • Nora-Born changed her stage name back to L.Rody and continues to be active as a soloist.
  • Lee Rumi participated in the group's special single in 2024 but did not pursue further activities in the entertainment industry.
