Pleasure Shop is the third mini album by Key. It was released on September 23, 2024 with "Pleasure Shop" serving as the album's title track.
The physical album comes in five versions: two Pleasure Book versions, Glass Package, Invitation (QR) and SMini.
Background[]
On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Key will be releasing a mini album and a Japanese single in the third quarter of the year.[1]
On September 2, it was announced that Key will be releasing his third mini album Pleasure Shop on September 23.[2]
Composition[]
"Overthink" is described as a song blends repetitive synth arpeggios with rhythmic kick sounds, catches the ear with a catchy melody like a mantra, and the lyrics are a witty message about stopping the thoughts that are constantly unfolding in the narrator's head in a virtual world.[3]
"Golden" is a dance-pop song in the house genre with nylon guitar and upbeat organ playing and synthesizer sounds, and the lyrics express the time of sparkling youth and youth in a golden light, creating a romantic mood.[3]
"I Know" is described as a retro house song with a variety of layered bass sounds, bright synth chords, and cheerful snap sounds, and the lyrics are expected to be well received, adding to the story's organic nature that runs through this album.[3]
"Novacaine" is an indie pop song with an up-tempo beat that is dominated by drum 'n' bass rhythm patterns. Various synthesizer sounds are combined to create a dreamy atmosphere, and the English lyrics are impressive, figuratively expressing longing for the person who broke up with them and longing for love.[4]
"Going Up" is described as a funk-based pop song featuring percussion and clap sounds that unfold rhythmically over a rich bassline. The lyrics, which compare the state of falling for a dangerous and difficult person to escape from to a nightmare, create a mysterious mood. According to Hanteo Chart, Pleasure Shop sold 114,649 copies in the first week of its release, breaking his previous record.[5]
