"Pink Venom" is the fourth digital single by BLACKPINK. It was released on August 19, 2022, as the pre-release single for the group's second full-length album, Born Pink.
Background[]
On August 1, 2022, a 'Born Pink' announcement trailer was posted on the group's social media accounts announcing that the group will be releasing a pre-release single in August, an album in September, and starting a world tour in October.[1] On August 8, a release poster was posted on the group's social media accounts which revealed the name of the pre-release single to be, "Pink Venom", and the release date to be August 19.[2] On August 19, 2022, the MV was released, alongside the #PinkVenomChallenge.
Promotions[]
BLACKPINK held a livestream through YouTube on August 19 at 12pm KST.[3] During the stream, the group introduced their new digital single, "Pink Venom". They also talked about the behind-the-scenes of filming the music video, gave spoilers about their second full-length album, play games, and answered questions sent by fans.[4] On August 17, YG Entertainment unveiled a schedule for the group's "Light Up The Pink" campaign, in which several landmarks worldwide will be lit up pink to promote the song starting August 18.[5] The group performed the song at the 2022 MTV VMAs on August 28, making them the first K-pop female act in history to do so.[6] A pre-recorded performance was also aired the same day at Inkigayo.[7]

In 24 hours, "Pink Venom"'s music video had received 90.4 million views on YouTube.[8] On August 20, it hit 100 million views on YouTube after one day, five hours, and 36 minutes. It is the fastest music video by any female artist in YouTube history to hit the 100 million mark.[9]
On August 27, the music video surpassed 200 million views on YouTube. It is the fastest Korean music video in 2022 to reach 200 million views.[10]
On August 4, 2023, the music video reached 700 million views.[11]
Commercial performance[]
As of August 20, "Pink Venom" got 69 #1's on the iTunes Top Songs chart. The song also hit #1 on the realtime chart for Bugs, Vibe, and Genie.[12] "Pink Venom" debuted at #1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. It's the first Korean song to debuted at #1 and spend three days at #1.[13][14] "Pink Venom" debuted at #2 on the weekly Spotify Global Top Songs chart with 41,286,215 streams.[14]
"Pink Venom" debuted at #1 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA)’s Singles chart. They are the first Kpop artist to do so.[15]
"Pink Venom" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. This is the BLACKPINK's first song to get #1 on Billboard Global 200. Luminate reported that through August 19 - August 25 "Pink Venom" got 36,000 download sales and 212.2 million streams. The song also debuted at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100.[16]"Pink Venom" has spent six weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 making it the first kpop song by a group to do so.[17] "Pink Venom" has spent three weeks on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, making it the first song by Kpop artist to do so in 2022.[18]
"Pink Venom" debuted at #22 on the United Kingdom’s official singles chart.[19] The song has spent three consecutive weeks in the top 40, making it the first song by a Kpop artist to do so.[20]
"Pink Venom" reached 100 million streams on Spotify in 17 days.[21]
"Pink Venom" debuted at #36 on the Billboard Billboard Pop Airplay chart. This is the first song by a Korean girl group to enter the chart.[18]
On May 28, 2023, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced that "Pink Venom" had received a gold certification for reaching 50 million streams in Japan.[22]
