PUREBOY (Korean: 순정소년; Japanese: 純情少年) is a boy group under IT Entertainment.

History[]

The group was first introduced in February 2014 as an 11-member group. They held activities in Japan before releasing their first single "Yellow Shirt" on November 19, 2014 in Korea as a nine-member group. In early 2015, Seokyu joined as the tenth member of the group for their Japanese debut single "Love X Evol". Seven of the members left the agency later that year to set up a new group called NAUGHTYBOYS (now known as NTB) in October.[1]

Following the debut of sub-unit PURE-L in December 2015, the unit was then renamed as the now-current group and was joined by original members Sangyun and Hayeong and new member Kunhee.

In 2017, Seokyu and EnL participated in Mnet's reality survival show Produce 101 Season 2,[1] finishing in 69th and 74th place, respectively. During the airing of the show, it was revealed that Seokyu was violently assaulted and beaten by three former members (Sangmin, Jiho, Jaewon) when they were still together in the group. They were ultimately investigated and prosecuted by police, and fined for the assault.[1]
