PRISMA (프리즈마) was a five-member girl group under UnionWave Entertainment. They made their debut on October 31, 2020 with the release of the music video for their first single "Breakout".[1][2]
The group has not posted any SNS updates since February 6, 2021, (For Eunbyeol's birthday)[3], indicating that they silently disbanded at some point later that year.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
On December 23, 2019, UnionWave stated that the global audition tour had ended on December 20 and that six individual trainees had made the final cut and will be trained before debuting in the summer 2020.[4]
On January 16, 2020, UnionWave revealed the first three official members: Chaerin, Gyeongmin, and Najeong,[5] and the final two, Nia and Miriam, were revealed on January 27.[6] On June 8, Chaerin announced that she had left the group due to health issues. Two weeks later, on June 24, UnionWave announced a new fifth member, Sally.[7][8]
On August 26, 2020, the agency stated that they would be revealing the group's name, along with the opening of their Instagram account, on September 1.[9] On the scheduled day, PRISMA was revealed as the official name of the group,[1] with the debut set to October, with the release of "Breakout". It was also announced that a secret member will be revealed on September 5,[10] replacing Najeong, who left the group in August due to health problems.[2] On September 5, Eunbyeol was officially revealed as the fifth and secret member.[11]
2020: Debut with "Breakout"[]
On October 31, 2020, the group's music video for their debut single, "Breakout", was released. UnionWave later explained that as their debut has been already delayed, they decided to release the first version of the music video before an official/final video would be released later that week along, with making the single available on streaming platforms.[12]
2021: Promotions and presumed disbandment[]
On February 5, 2021, they made an Instagram post about Eunbyeol's birthday.[13] They have not made a post since February 5, and haven't made an update for Sally's birthday on April 28, 2021, indicating that the group has silently disbanded. Additionally, Sally, Eunbyeol, and Gyeongmin have removed PRISMA from their username.
