Ong Seong Wu (옹성우; or simply Seongwu) is a South Korean singer and actor under Fantagio. He is best known for finishing 5th in Produce 101 Season 2 and becoming a member of Wanna One.
He made his solo debut on March 25, 2020 with his first mini album Layers.
Career[]
2017–2019: Produce 101 Season 2, Wanna One, MC, and acting[]
In 2017, Ong Seong Wu participated in the Mnet reality show Produce 101 Season 2, representing Fantagio. He finished in 5th place, thus becoming a member of Wanna One. The group then officially debuted on August 7, 2017 with the mini album, 1X1=1 (To Be One).
On February 3, 2018, Ong Seong Wu participated in his first episode of Show! Music Core as an MC, alongside gugudan's Mina and NCT's Mark.[2] Unfortunately, on the September 22nd broadcast, he then hosted his last episode as an MC.[3]
On January 27, 2019, Wanna One then officially disbanded.
On June 11, he released the single "The Love of Summer : The Story", which was a part of the 2019 Pepsi K-Pop Collaboration Project.
On June 11, posters of Ong Seong Wu for the JTBC drama At Eighteen which will be his first leading role, were posted.[4] The first episode then aired on July 22 while the 16th and final episode aired on September 10. On August 5, he released the song "Our Story", which was the second release of At Eighteen OST.
On November 24, 2019, an invitation message was released announcing his first fanmeeting in Seoul, as a part of his Asia fanmeeting tour.[5]
2020: Solo debut with Layers and first fanmeeting[]
On January 9, 2020, Ong Seong Wu released his first digital single "We Belong". The single was later included in his first mini album.
On January 11, he then held his first stop of the Ong Seong Wu Asia Fanmeeting <We Belong> in Seoul, South Korea.[6] On January 18, he then attended his second stop in Bangkok, Thailand.[7] On February 7, it was announced via the fancafe that the Manila, Philippines stop, which was scheduled for February 25, and the Taipei, Hong Kong stop, which was scheduled for February 15, of the fanmeeting tour would be postponed due to COVID-19.[8]
On March 25, he then officially debuted as a soloist with the release of his first mini album Layers.
On April 9, it was confirmed that Ong Seong Wu would be acting in the JTBC drama More Than Friends.[9] The first episode then aired on September 25th while the 16th and final episode aired on November 28th. On October 24, he released the song "Late Regret", which was the sixth release of More Than Friends OST.
2022: Second fanmeeting[]
On February 11, 2022, he announced that he would be holding his second fanmeeting called <Re:meet> on March 12 at the KBS Arena.[10]

On March 16, 2023, Fantagio revealed in a statement that Ong Seong Wu would be enlisting on April 17 as an active duty soldier.[11] He was discharged on October 16, 2024.[12]

- It was revealed that him and BTOB's Yook Sung Jae were in the same class in Hanlim Multi Art School.
- During the course of Produce 101 Season 2, he became known as the "Moodmaker", due to his witty comments and actions, here is a list of some of the things he notably did:
- Being the Slate guy.
- His expression during the dance evaluation of "Get Ugly".
- "Jeongmal Jeongmal Jjinja Daebak Real Heol Wangjeon" which roughly translated to "Really Really Very Very Real Heol Totally".
- Running with his bag during the Morning Wake-Up mission.
- He was born on the exact same day, month and year as DAY6's Dowoon.
- It was revealed he trained for 8 months, if including Produce 101 Season 2, then it's exactly a year.
- He is currently the only K-pop idol with the surname Ong (옹), which is one of the rarest surnames in South Korea.[15][16][17][18]
