NEXTU (넥스트유) is an upcoming multinational girl group under Shinwha Entertainment. Their debut date is currently unknown.

History[]

Pre-debut[]

On January 15, 2022, NEXTU revealed their official logo on Instagram along with its four current members, Riel, Irene, Jane and Shine.[1]

However, in mid-2022, Irene left the group for unknown reasons since she was unfollowed from their Instagram account.

On June 15, 2023, they upload their first video with new members Yujin and Gyubin.[2] Trainees Riel and Geuna aren't in the lineup, hinting at their departure from NEXTU, but they're still trainees under the agency.[3]

On October 12, 2023, it was revealed that a new member, Hyunji, had joined the group, but she didn't stay for long as she departed shortly after joining.[4] Riel came back to the group, hinting at her rejoining the group with Roa and a new member Yehee. On October 16, Shinwha Entertainment held auditions to find members for the group.[5]

On March 29, it was announced that the group will consists of three different units with a different color and concept and the ability to separate or combine with each other. The first unit will have a girl crush and sophisticated concept with black and white as their representative colors. They will release synth-pop, city-pop, dance, electronica and R&B songs.[6]

On April 4, they introduced the group's logo and its meaning.[7]

On April 11, they announced that the group's first unit will make their debut in May.[8] The next day, they released a schedule for their first digital single "R.I.P (Rest In Peace)", which is set to be released on May 20. However, the single was delayed.

On April 26, the members of the first unit were revealed to be Chloe, Jella and Lexie.[9]

On May 13, they announced their first single "Oopsy Daisy (English Ver.)" which was to be released on May 20.[10] However, on May 20, they announced that R.I.P's music video release date was changed to May 31 due quality improvements and better service.[11] On July 12, it was announced that the single will ultimately be released on July 14.[12]

On October 29, NEXTU released their second digital single "R.I.P (English Ver.)".[13]
