NEKIRU (Korean: 네키루; Japanese: ネキル), short for Nē, kī teru? (ねえ、聴いてる?), is an underground live idol girl group managed by To Hermitage. They debuted on April 27, 2019 with a live stage performance at the Hometiger Festival in Shinchon, Mapo, Seoul.[1]

Their group name is Japanese and means "Hey, are you listening?".

History[]

2019: Live debut[]

NEKIRU was formed sometime in early 2019 by To Hermitage, with members Nyaryu, Soha and Yume. They officially made their debut on April 27, 2019 with a live stage performance at the Hometiger Festival in Shinchon, Mapo, Seoul.[2]

2020: HELLO, Yume and Ria's departures[]

On June 23, 2020, NEKIRU announced their first music release, the mini album HELLO with lead song "Hear My Voice".[3] However, a few days later, member Yume announced her graduation from the group due to health issues.[4] The album was eventually released on November 13, 2020. Since, member Yume was still a member while the album in preparation, her vocals are present in the album.[5]

On December 24, 2020, member Ria's graduation was announced, she credited her departure to difficulties with working as both a member of NEKIRU and Red Sonnet, and thus ultimately chose to remain with Red Sonnet.[6]

2021–present: "The Forgotten Star"[]

On June 23, NEKIRU teased a new music release.[7] By July 14, they revealed a mini album, titled "The Forgotten Star" set to be released on August 22.[8] The album released early online on August 4.[9]
