"Morning Dew" (아침이슬, Achimiseul, Ach'imisŭl, 아침 이슬, Achim Iseul, Ach'im Isŭl) is a song by Yang Hee Eun, released as a track of her studio album Yang Hee Eun Gounnorae Moeum (양희은 고운노래 모음, Yang Hee Eun's Collection of Beautiful Songs, Yanghŭiŭn kounnorae moŭm) on 1971.
This song was written by Kim Min Ki in 1970, but the sheet music was torn up and thrown in the bin. After Yang Hee Eun put together the torn sheet music, she told him that she wanted to sing that song, and he allowed it. [3] After this song, released in 1971, became a hit, he also sang it about a month later. [1]

Censorship[]
This song was once banned in South Korea, and is banned in North Korea. [7]
In the South Korea, it was designated as a beautiful song in 1973, [8] but in 1975, it was designated as a banned song by the Performance Ethics Committee (currently the Korea Media Rating Board). [9][10][11][12] It became a protest song of struggle along with Small Pond and Evergreen during the democratization movement. [13] Kim Min Ki's school junior, Lee Soo Man, almost received disciplinary action after singing this song on a night stage in 1978. [14] There are various theories as to why. The first is that the phrase 'Here I go now, into the wilderness of badlands. Leaving all the sadness behind, here I go now.' refers to activists. The second is that it criticizes the 1972 Yushin Constitution. The third theory is that South Korean society is wary of becoming Americanized. The fourth is in the lyrics 'A blazing red sun rising up over the graveyard', the sun is interpreted as Kim Il-sung, and the words rising red can be interpreted to mean communism. [15] It was lifted in 1987.
