"Moonlight Sunrise" is the second English digital single (fourth overall) by TWICE. It was released on January 20, 2023 as a pre-release single for their upcoming 12th mini album Ready To Be.

Background[]
On December 21, 2022, TWICE announced that they would be making a comeback in the first quarter of 2023 (labeled as Our Youth), starting with a pre-release English single in January, followed by their 12th mini album in March.[1] On January 3, 2023, it was revealed their pre-release English single, "Moonlight Sunrise", would be released on January 20.[2]
Composition[]
"Moonlight Sunrise" is described as a Miami bass pop song that compares the emotions and excitement one feels when in love with the bright moonlight and the rising sun.[3]
Commercial performance[]
"Moonlight Sunrise" debuted at #1 on the iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 33 different regions. It also debuted at #39 on the U.S. Spotify Top Songs chart and at #60 on the Global Top Songs chart.[4]
"Moonlight Sunrise" debuted at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart which makes it TWICE's second song to enter the chart. The song also debuted at #3 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart which it the third song by a Kpop girl group to chart in the top three.[5]
On July 26, "Moonlight Sunrise" received a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of Japan after surpassing 50 million streams in Japan.[6]
On December 1, American magazine Rolling Stone ranked "Moonlight Sunrise" #55 on their 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023' list.[7]
