Minyoung (민영) is a South Korean singer under BBGIRLS Company and GLG. She is the leader of the girl group BB GIRLS (formerly Brave Girls) and a former member of the girl group ZZBest as well as the project group HavyT.[1][2]

Career[]

2014-2015: ZZBest[]

On January 15, 2015, Minyoung made her debut as a member of the girl group ZZBest under the stage name Ina. However, the group silently disbanded sometime in late 2015.

2016: Debut with Brave Girls[]

On February 2, 2016, it was announced that Brave Girls would be returning as a seven-member group after a two year hiatus. She, alongside Yujeong, Eunji, Yuna, and Hayun, were added as new members.[3]

Minyoung made her official debut as a member on February 16, 2016 with the group's third digital single "Deepened".

Following Yujin's departure from the group on January 13, 2017,[4] she was appointed as Brave Girls' leader.

2023: Departure from Brave, new agency, and renaming as BB GIRLS[]

On February 16, 2023, Brave Entertainment announced that Brave Girls would conclude their official activities under the agency after all the members decided not to renew their contracts.[5]

On April 27, Warner Music Korea announced that she, alongside Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna, had signed exclusive contracts with the agency to continue activities as a group.[6] On May 3, it was announced that the group had changed their name to 'BB GIRLS' due to their previous agency, Brave Entertainment, owning the trademark for the 'Brave Girls' name.[7]

2024: Departure from Warner Music Korea[]

On April 22, Warner Music Korea announced that BB GIRLS will be leaving the agency after their contract had expired.[8]

Hiatus[]

On January 14, 2022, Brave Entertainment announced that Minyoung would be taking a hiatus from activities due to health issues.[9]

Relationship[]

On April 24, 2023, STARNEWS reported that Minyoung and rapper Verbal Jint have been dating for two years. A representative of Verbal Jint's agency responded that the two already broke up.[10]
