On October 12, 2020, members Hyein and Rookie announced through the group's Instagram that they have concluded their contracts with the agency due to their agency's financial difficulties and that the Instagram account would soon be deleted.[1] In January 2022, the group returned back with four new members and are expected to make a comeback in September 2022 before finalizing their seven-member lineup in 2023. Though by September 22, no comeback materialized, leaving their status unknown, On July 26, the group was disbanded.

History[]

2017–2019: The Singing Girls[]

On September 5, 2017, the indie project duo The Singing Girls made their debut with "I Like". The duo consisted of two soloists: Kwon Aejin and Li-G (who now goes by the name Cherry Pink).

For their first comeback "Still Like You", the line-up switched to Kwon Aejin, Sanha, and Sarang.

On August 13, 2018, the agency revealed they had replaced all of the existing members of the group with members born in the year 1996 for their upcoming comeback "Maybe Maybe":[2] Sena, Eun Bee, La Hee, and Jiyeon.[3] They also changed up the group's concept: from indie project group to fixed line-up idol group.[4]

In October, the group released a performance video of their comeback song "This Night" on 1theK, and in the description box of the video, it was revealed that all of the members from the previous line-up had left the group. The new members, Bang Seungji, Aya, Rookie, Oh Hyein, and Sophie (Haena, a Canadian singer-songwriter), were introduced as the new members.[4] Sophie, however, never performed with the group. The group performed with Yuri, a soloist who made her debut in 2001, who had recorded the song with the previous line-up.[5]

In March 2019, the group released their final single under the name The Singing Girls, without Sophie and Seungji. A new member, Hajin, was introduced. With the release of "Dream of Star", the group also revealed they would be re-debuting under the name Melody Pink.[6]

2019–2020: Renaming as Melody Pink, "Hit U", first disbandment[]

In April 2019, Melody Pink first performed their debut song "Hey U" on Pops in Seoul.[7] The song was officially released on September 25.

On October 12, 2020, members Hyein and Rookie announced through the group's Instagram that they have concluded their contracts due to their agency's financial difficulties. They also revealed the Instagram account would soon be deleted, leaving the group's future status at the time unknown.[1]

2022–2023: Planned comeback and second disbandment[]

In January 2022, Melody Pink returned to Instagram introducing four new members: Jang Eunbi, Jang Jungwon, Park Seoyoung and Jung Mijin.[8] A statement shown through the agency's Instagram bio revealed that a seven-member lineup will be finalized in 2023.[9]

On April 22, 2022, a blog post update clarified that Melody Pink did not disband due to COVID-19 and that they had to correct the wrong information posted on Namuwiki. It was also revealed that the group was preparing to comeback with six members, later reduced to five due to actress Ko Eun-sae suddenly leaving. Lastly, it was revealed that Melody Pink is preparing a new album, Bad Boy, with the goal of releasing it in September, which will be three years since their last comeback.[10]

On July 23, 2022, KD Entertainment officially introduced their upcoming new girl group, TIM B, which is affiliated with TIM A and was later re-named to Siesta. It consisted of the previously revealed new members in the line-up for Melody Pink's 2022 comeback: Park Seoyoung, Jang Jungwon and Jung Mijin.[11][12][13]

At the time, it was unclear if Siesta's members are Melody Pink's new members or a new group altogether as the three members have been featured on both Melody Pink's and Siesta's accounts. Though, member Jang Eunbi who is no longer mentioned seems to have departed from the upcoming group lineup and was never introduced as a member of Siesta. By December 2022, it was clarified through their Instagram that Siesta is an entirely new girl group unrelated to Melody Pink, including its members, thus Jungwon and Mijin are not longer members of Melody Pink, and Seoyoung's membership status currently unknown but it is assumed she is still with Melody Pink.

Unfortunately, by September 2022, Melody Pink's planned comeback never materialized leaving their status unknown, On July 26, Seoyoung left the group and the group has officially disbanded.
