Maxident (stylized in all caps) is the seventh mini album by Stray Kids. It was released on October 7, 2022 with "Case 143" serving as the album's title track.
The physical album is available in 11 versions: T-Crush, Heart, Go (Limited) and 8 individual Digipack versions.
Composition[]
The EP opens with "Case 143", a love song comparing confused minds when falling in love with a "case" and expressing emotions through the number 143, a code for "I love you".[1] A break-up song, it is followed by "Chill", which talks of a couple whose relationship has "cooled down" but do not want to hurt each other, so they unsuccessfully try to postpone their break up.[2] "Super Board", the fourth track, creates a "cyberpunk atmosphere" using a bass synth and hip-hop drum.[3] Described as the background of "Case 143", the fifth track "Give Me Your TMI" expresses how someone unknowingly gets more curious to know more about the person they are interested in.[4]
The fifth to seventh tracks are performed in the sub-units. "3Racha", a drill track shows Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han's "pride and ambition" as the production team 3Racha. It is followed by Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix's "Taste", describing the "mysterious atmosphere" felt by two people who are struggling because they do not know how to love, detailing physical intimacy. "Can't Stop" is performed by Seungmin and I.N, containing lyrics about a person's heart beating faster when around somebody they like.[5][6] Maxident concludes with the Korean version of "Circus", a hip hop-dance track centered on the circus theme.[7]
Commercial performance[]
As of September 28, Maxident reached 2.24 million stock pre-orders.[8]
According to Hanteo Chart, Maxident sold a total of 1,308,971 copies on the first day of its release.[9] On October 12, they reported that as of 6:05 p.m. KST, the album's sales surpassed 2,000,000 copies.[10] In the first week of its release (October 7 to 13), Maxident sold a total of 2,185,013 copies.[11] As of November 7, Maxident surpassed 3 million cumulative album sales.[12] The album officially received Circle Chart's triple million certification on December 8.[13]
On October 16, Maxident debuted at #1 on the Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, making the group the only artist to debut two albums at #1 on the chart in 2022.[14] The album spend three consecutive weeks in the top 50, making it Stray Kids' first album to do so,[15] and six consecutive weeks overall.[16]
