Mark (Korean: 마크; Japanese: マーク) is a Canadian rapper and singer-songwriter under SM Entertainment. He is a member of the boy group NCT, its sub-units NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT DREAM, and the supergroup SuperM.

He made his solo debut on April 7, 2025 with the full-length album The Firstfruit.

Early life[]

Mark was born in Toronto, Canada, but moved to Vancouver at a young age where he got casted into SM Entertainment. He has an older brother, who encouraged him to pursue a career related to music.[citation needed]

Career[]

Pre-debut[]

In 2012, he was cast into SM Entertainment through SM’s Global Audition in Vancouver. On December 16, 2013, he was introduced as a member of the pre-debut trainee team SMROOKIES.

In 2014, Mark appeared on Exo 90:2014, a reality TV Show starring EXO, alongside other members of the SMROOKIES program, where they performed songs and recreated music videos of prominent 90s K-pop idols. 

In 2015, Mark appeared on Disney Channel Korea's The Mickey Mouse Club as a Mouseketeer alongside other members of the SMROOKIES program, some of which are currently in NCT DREAM. The show aired from July 23 to December 17, 2015, and was hosted by Leeteuk of Super Junior.

2016–2018: NCT, solo endeavors[]

On April 9, 2016, he officially debuted as a member of NCT, in the unit NCT U, with the single "The 7th Sense".

On July 7, 2016, he debuted as a member of the 2nd unit, NCT 127, with their mini album NCT #127.

On August 25, 2016, he debuted as a member of the 3rd unit NCT DREAM, with the single "Chewing Gum".

In January 2017, he joined High School Rapper, a survival hip hop reality TV show which aired on Mnet. He made it to the finals and performed an original song called "Drop" featuring labelmate Seulgi of Red Velvet. He subsequently placed 7th overall.

In July 2017, Mark collaborated with EXO's Xiumin on the single "Young & Free". The single was released through Season 2 of SM Entertainment's digital music project SM Station. He also collaborated with Parc Jae Jung for "Lemonade Love", the 17th STATION Season 2 release and 68th overall.

On March 14, 2018, NCT released their first full album as part of a large-scale project uniting all of its subgroups, NCT 2018 Empathy.

2024: "200", "Fraktsiya"[]

On May 8, SM Entertainment announced that Mark will be releasing the digital single "200" on May 16.[1]

On December 9, SM Entertainment announced that Mark will be pre-releasing a single with Lee Youngji ahead of his solo debut.[2] On December 11, SM Entertainment announced that Mark will be releasing the digital single "Fraktsiya" on December 16.[3]

2025: Solo debut with The Firstfruit[]

On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Mark is currently preparing his debut album, aiming for a February 2025 release.[1] On November 5, SM Entertainment shared plans for Mark's first full-length album, which will be released in the first quarter of 2025.[4] On December 9, SM Entertainment announced that Mark's debut album was postponed to April 2025 to ensure higher quality.[2] On March 10, 2025, SM confirmed that Mark will be releasing his first full-length solo album on April 7.[5] On March 13, the album's title was revealed to be The Firstfruit.[6]
