MEP-C (맵시) is an upcoming multinational girl group under GBK Entertainment. Their debut date is currently unknown.
Their group name, MEP-C is a Korean idiom meaning "to dress stylish, to look good, to be chic".[1][2]
History[]
Pre-debut[]
On November 29, 2022, Chiu, Aria, and Nova were officially revealed as the first three members of the group,[3][4][5] followed by Roa and E.sha.[6]
On December 14, the group started following Via on Instagram, hinting at her addition to the group as a secret member. On December 18, she was revealed as the sixth member of the group.[7] On December 27, Lita was revealed as a new member of the group, following Via as another secret member.[8]
On February 11, 2023, GBK Entertainment released an announcement that MEP-C's line-up will be changed and the company has selected 12 members out of 50 trainees from Girl's Universe to compete for the final line-up debut through voting from fans. The previous members may have to compete with other new girls to be included in the line-up. There are three classifications for the trainees: "WANTED" (Trainee contract status), "BUSTED" (exclusive contract completed, or debut candidate), and "MISSING" (exclusive contract failure, or transfer to another company).[9] Since then, the profile posts of Roa, Chiu, E.sha, Nova and Aria have been deleted. It is assumed that these members went under the "MISSING" status.
Since February 2023, the group revealed several new members under the "WANTED" status, starting from Miho on February 16,[10] Lita on February 17,[11] Venus on February 18,[12] Quian and Rishi on February 25,[13][14] Cea on March 2,[15] Solmi on March 4,[16] Kkekke on March 6,[17] Ann on March 9,[18] Ssia on March 17,[19] Thamee on March 19,[20] Hara on March 24,[21] and Anika on March 27. [22] After the lineup change, member Via is no longer seen in the group's activities, making her categorized under the "MISSING" status. Cea's profile post was deleted shortly after sometime in March, making her categorized under the "MISSING" status.
On June 18, members Solmi, Kkekke, and Hara are under the "BUSTED" status,[23][24][25] followed by members Ann, Venus, and Anika on June 20,[26][27][28] making them now debut candidates.
On June 21, Nepali member Hara shared information about the group's debut on her Instagram story. She stated that after all of the members with the "BUSTED" status have been announced, there will be a vote to decide the members for the "TRANSPORTED" status. After those members have been chosen, they will receive a visa and undergo training in South Korea. Then, the final members will be selected from within the company, given the "IDOL" status, and will debut later.[29][30]
On July 13, it was confirmed that Ssia and Thamee were no longer with the company as they were confirmed as "MISSING" status.[31][32] Then, on July 29, Zaylie was revealed as a new member under the "BUSTED" status,[33] followed by Aya on August 18.[34]
On October 18, after the voting period ended, it was announced that Anika, Ann, Solmi, Zaylie, Kkekke, and Hara are under the "TRANSPORTED" status.[35][36] This makes the remaining members who didn't pass it under the "MISSING" status.
As of March 2024, all the "TRANSPORTED" members are now in South Korea and they will continue their training for the official debut.[37] In the same month, on March 14, according to Audition-ME, who once scouted Solmi for an audition in South Korea reported that the group will be preparing for their debut in June 2024.[38] However, their debut was postponed to a date that has yet to be determined by the agency.
2024: "Where Is The Love"[]
On August 28, 2024, it was announced that the group would release a pre-debut song "Where Is The Love", being a remake cover of The Black Eyed Peas' song of the same name, on August 29, as part of the Transported Mission 1.[39]
